We spent two nights here with our family (three separate rooms) and everyone loved this hotel for its comfort, spaciousness, and location. Rooms are beautifully appointed with lots of amenities and front desk and breakfast staff service is terrific. Beds were very comfortable. Also, we were in the building separate from the main desk and really loved its own sitting/reading room as well as the charm of the building. The breakfast is amazing -- with not only a large traditional buffet set of options, but also to made options like eggs etc. And location -- who could ask for anything better? You can walk around Ortigia easily as well as over to the mainland of Siracusa. Views of the water are just outside the front door.
The location of this hotel should make anyone want to stay here! You have views of the sea and you can walk to the markets, the old town city center, shopping, restaurants. It was perfect. The hotel restaurant was excellent. They delivered coffee to our room each morning. It was quiet at night. Perfect stay.
We spent three lovely nights here in late July. Very calm, just on the seafront on the less touristy side of the island. We enjoyed a beautiful superior double, very well-designed, clean and quiet. The hotel is located just in the seafront and a short walk from swimming and sunbathing. Very nice staff, and a fresh and tasty breakfast spread. Would definitely stay here again!
Great position on the island, a short walk to the attractions so you can avoid the masses. The beach access via pontoon just down the road along with talette parking. The rooms are clean and well set out, free non alcoholic mini bar and daily service. The breakfast is great and the staff helpful.
We had a perfect experience at this charming hotel, well situated by the sea in Ortigia. When we arrived the man at reception looked at our luggage (we were traveling in Italy for 3 weeks so had several suitcases) and decided we needed a bigger room, so he upgraded us to a junior suite at no extra charge. That was just the start of a perfect experience. The breakfasts were absolutely lovely: a beautiful buffet, full of tasty croissants, cheese, fruit, and on and on, and you could order fresh cooked eggs at no extra charge if you wanted. The location is ideal for walking anywhere you want in Ortigia, and even to Syracuse (we walked to the Archeological Park), and our room was spacious, pretty and comfortable.
The Algila was wonderful! My son and I loved the little island and all it had to offer. The rooms are clean and comfortable with views of the sea. Enzo, was always smiling and willing to accommodate and food needs. We will definitely return here!
We were in Ortigia for a wedding and decided to spend an extra few days. The hotel is delightful, well located, cool, clean and well-appointed rooms and we had a small terrace overlooking the sea. The staff were incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay. We used the free bikes, perfect for exploring and the hotel taxis (which are cheaper than locals). Breakfast plentiful, fresh cannoli daily! Ortigia is a fascinating and beautiful place to explore, from the 3rd century temples to baroque churches to Fratelli Burgio deli to ocean swimming, everything is within easy walking distance. A great few days, made easy by the friendly hotel team.
Situated on the quieter eastern-facing side of Ortigia, this character-filled hotel, decorated in a kind of hybrid Italian/Moroccan style, overlooks the sea and is about a 20 minute walk from the main train or bus station. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Breakfast is included, with a slant towards Sicilian cuisine, with all sorts of sweet pastries and cakes along with cheese, fresh fruit, yoghurt and so forth. They will cook you hot food as part of the breakfast. The standard room that we booked was a little small and looked out onto a wall so we upgraded to a junior suite (room 106) which has a nice seaview (you are looking across a small car park but it's still very nice to look at the yachts on the sparkling water). However this does bring the price up (in our case 350 euros a night) which is on the high end, but the location and the setting I think are worth it. You do not, however, have a balcony in this room though I believe some of the other rooms do have them. The front window can be opened fully though to let the sea breeze through, if you want. It's a fairly quiet area so while there's some occasional traffic, it's not really an issue. The actual room was great, with excellent aircon and a comfortable bed, but we do prefer a firm mattress, which this definitely was. A nice touch is that the minibar is full of still and sparkling water and soft drinks which are all free. Also a bowl of fresh fruit was provided on checkin. The hotel will pick up and drop off to Catania airport for 60 euros which is I think a very good option as it is under an hour by car. There is a nice cozy bar downstairs along with the restaurant; the food there is quite nice though portions are small so you may want to order a couple of side dishes. Italy has obviously suffered badly during the pandemic and the hospitality sector is still ramping back up. This means that at times staffing levels were fairly modest and you might have to pop to reception if the bar is unstaffed; the folks there are extremely helpful and will ensure you are served quickly, This also means that you may want to book early in the day for the restaurant as a large table booking can stretch them to capacity - there are, of course, lots of restaurants within a short stroll of the hotel. I will say though that we really enjoyed our stay here. It is the staff that ultimately determine your hotel experience and the staff here are, as I said, absolutely lovely and helpful.…
We cancelled our hotel in Catania and stayed here instead for an extra night so making our stay here 4 nights. We got a very good deal and upgraded to a junior suite room no 106 which was fabulous and well worth the money. Thank you Stevano. Thanks also to Marcella, Eric, Sonya who is always smiling and Carla. I'm sorry that I don't recall the names of all the other hard working and always pleasant staff. Other reviewers have already commented on the location which is hugely convenient to everything and yet this hotel is so quiet and peaceful. Spotless, fantastic breakfast, intimate little bar area, beautifully designed public areas, efficient and pleasant staff all contributed to a lovely stay. Would I return? In a heartbeat if I get the chance.
This was our second stay here. We had a very fine stay here 3 years ago, before covid, and were delighted to return. While absolutely everything was fine, I wish to mention especially the breakfast and the coffee. Both were the best we had during our trip in Sicily.
