Hotel Villa Fanny is located in an exclusive residential neighbourhood in Cagliari, a pleasant stroll from the old town centre with its museums, monuments, bars and restaurants. We stayed at Villa Fanny for a 5 night city break before driving to a villa along the coast. It was a superb start to our holiday. We stayed in the Luxury Garden Room, very comfortable, complete with jacuzzi. The hotel building and gardens are beautiful; staff very friendly, helpful and attentive - particular shout-out to Allesandro the lovely barman who put up very well with my Italian! Breakfast plentiful and varied. We did not eat any other meals at the hotel as so many great restaurants in Cagliari, but bar snacks are available. This is a fantastic base from which to explore Cagliari. No car park but most places are within easy walking, cab or bus journeys so we just picked up our car at the airport at the end of our hotel stay.

Nice garden on top of lovely indoor decor. Rooms are right in size, but not too big, the bathroom (despite my experience with the leakage above ) though was big and chic in comparison. Positives: - Good reception staff who were friendly, helpful and apologetic considered I had few challenges during my stay. - Everything was clean: the room was a small size and little noisy (bar several bumps in the night). I recommend not to opt for the ones above the bar! - The bed was absolutely fabulous... SO comfortable! - Lovely shower area and toiletries. - Nice garden and bar areas, although I didn't use these much. - Good location to explore the shopping area by foot. Negatives: - Bathroom had a deep water leakage from above my bathroom (night and following morning). Once reported, staff just apologised for this accident (hotel I understand was fully booked not much of choice to change the room). - Breakfast was good but we had better quality food at a lower hotel’s category (maybe the disadvantage of a buffet style during lower season?). - The garden is lovely but next to a fairly noisy road and is also overlooked by residential buildings (which aren't hidden by trees as you might be led to believe) and despite bar is closed at 22h00 pm private parties lasted after midnight and affected my sleep (reception again apologised). My room unfortunately wasn't pictured on the website, so I was a little disappointed with what was allocated.

I had an exceptional stay at Villa Fanny, it's a hotel I'd hurriedly go back to. The hotel is beautiful, with thought-out decor gracing every sqm. ALL the staff were friendly, accommodating and professional at all times. The reception and waiting staff spoke good English and were always helpful. The cleaners did an excellent job in our room & all public areas. The cleaners I encountered only spoke Italian, but we were able to communicate with one another. I loved our bedroom! It was huge with lots of storage, quiet and had a really comfortable bed. The shower room was stunning with a good range of toiletries. The only thing I'd change is the strength of the wifi. There was an array of options for the breakfast buffet, which was served with hot drinks of your choice and a variety of juices and water. The bar and garden are pleasant additions to an already beautiful hotel. An ideal location for exploring and eating in Cagliari, this hotel was worth every pound.

We loved the stay! Very nice garden and outdoor livings, on top of lovely indoor decor. Rooms are right in size, but not too big, the bathroom though was big in comparison, and charming with a brick wall and large shower. The charming decor and the garden were the most remarkable features.. I would definitely recommend it!! Location is a bit afar from the historic center or the commercial streets, but near a very elegant street, with big old houses. Still not that far, maybe 10-15 minutes walk. Finally, good drinks at the bar!

Positives: - Fantastic reception staff who were friendly, helpful and spoke good english. - Everything was very clean and they did a great job servicing the rooms. - The room was a good size and quiet (bar a few bumps in the night) - The beds were absolutely amazing... SO comfortable! - Lovely shower area and toiletries. - Good choice of breakfast in a buffet style with options on hot drinks, and cake! - Nice garden and bar areas, although we didn't use these much (see below) - Fantastic location to explore the city by foot. Negatives: - Our room had a slanting roof... okay for my wife at 5'4", not that great for me at 6ft! - The one small window looked out onto a metal chimney flue... the bathroom had a tiny 'hidden' window behind a mirror, fun but not much use except to air the room. - The TV turned itself on at 3am every morning (ended up unplugging it!) - The room safe didn't work. - Breakfast was good but we had better quality food at a cheap BnB on the coast (maybe the disadvantage of a buffet style?) - The garden is lovely but next to a fairly noisy road and is also overlooked by residential buildings (which aren't hidden by trees as you might be led to believe). Whilst we were staying there was a wedding taking place, so that curtailed our use of the facilities and there was also some filming taking place one day. Yes, we opted for one of the cheapest "Comfort" rooms when booking but even then the nightly rate was eye-watering, probably because we were still in the high season at the end of September. Our room wasn't pictured on the website, (maybe for the above reasons) so we were a little disappointed with what was allocated as we had booked direct. On reflection we should have asked for a different room. Lesson learned.

We stayed here for three nights, my wife and I in one room, our daughters in another, both on the ground floor. The entrance to the hotel is situated on a quiet street, with a drop off zone directly in front of the hotel where I parked our car to unload our luggage. Warm and efficient welcome at reception. Both rooms were very tastefully furnished, impeccably clean. Stylish, sophisticated. As there is no on-site parking, once I had dropped the bags I went to move the car to park on the street. Reception was very helpful in suggesting a suitable spot. With a bit of good luck I found one immediately. I can however see why it would typically take longer to do so - on weekdays most of the spots are taken. I did however notice that during the day (not evenings) on weekends there were plenty of spots. Whatever your views on street parking I wouldn't let it put you off - it's not unusual in European cities and it really was a minor inconvenience to be able to stay at this wonderful hotel. We really enjoyed our breakfasts - help yourself, but with the ability to order additional items from a menu if you felt the need. We particularly like the option of being able to eat breakfast in the garden. Breakfast was very unhurried, uncrowded. A 10 - 15 minute walk along a quiet street took us to the main street in Cagliari and an area packed with restaurants and pedestrians. Every where we walked felt very safe, even late at night. No street noise at night. Our interactions with the staff were all positive - friendly and willing. Check out was efficient. We loved our stay here. Hopefully one day we can go back to Sardinia so we can stay here again.
