Travellers' Choice
Villa Las Tronas is the delightful 5-star hotel that has become the symbol of Alghero - “the Golden Door to tourism in Sardinia” - situated on the Riviera del Corallo on the north-west coast of the Island. The hotel rises from the sea-shore with its Spa, nestled in the greenery of nearly two hectares of park that separate it from the Alghero waterfront, on a headland surrounded on three sides by the crystal-clear water of the bay. Numerous quays invite you to sunbathe and swim in the most comfortable, private way. The view is spectacular and the atmosphere so intense and romantic as to steal the hearts of Italian Royalty, who chose the Villa up to the nineteen-forties for their holidays in Sardinia. The bar and panoramic restaurant are the ideal place to relax, while your gaze takes in the Bay of Alghero and rediscovers the timeless luxuriousness inherent in the unique features and character of the villa. The Hotel and the Spa – with its covered sea-water swimming-pool (also looking out over the Mediterranean), sauna, Turkish bath, Kneipp walkway, gym and the beauty area – are open all through the year.

We stayed for just two nights, and wish it could have been longer. Our room was the perfect mixture of old world grandure and modern convenience. The toiletries were devine. We had a fabulous view from our balcony and loved watching the sun set. Breakfast was amazing, perfect poached eggs, and a selection of cakes and pies to rival the best patisserie. Service was impeccable, friendly and informative. The outside pool was a great way to cool down. A wonderful couple of days.

Just back from a wonderful week at Villa Las Tronas with my wife. Stepping out onto the terrace with a welcoming drink you are treated to one of the most stunning views in the Mediterranean with the deep blue water lapping against the rocks which the hotel is built on. We had a garden view room on the second floor which was very comfortable and immaculately clean. All the staff at the hotel are very attentitive and caring in making sure your stay is memorable. The spacious grounds include many places to enjoy the experience of the location, including the pool area which is expertly looked after by a wonderful lady where nothing is too much trouble. We will be back around the same time next year to relax again enjoy the hotel and Alghero.

The hotel is in a beautiful location just outside the old town of Alghero (10 mins walk), it only has approx 30 rooms and as it was end of season was very quiet which suited us but for the price I think the hotel could make a few small changes to make this a nice hotel to stay at to a great experience 1. When we arrived we were checked in and taken to our room. No explanation of the facilities on site i.e spa or where to find them, a small tour, given a map of area etc is something I expect these days or at least give people the choice especially when paying these prices. Also charging hotel residents to use the gym I think this should be included in price 2. Room was nice, clean with all the amenities expected but a bit shabby chic 3. Breakfast was very standard but as a few others mentioned i found it a bit strange that you could have soft boiled, scrambled or poached eggs free but not a plain omelette. I will say the staff at breakfast were lovely, I did catch the name of the young lady but Natsarano was always on hand to help. 4. Restaurant - I have no problem with the hotel opting for a vegetarian restaurant but the food choices and ingredient combinations were a little strange, therefore we didn't even give it a go.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Simply magical location, service and atmosphere. 1. Make sure you get a room with ocean view. It is the only way to thoroughly enjoy this hotel. Preferable floor 3 or 4. 2. Don’t plan to eat at the hotel any meals with the exception of breakfast. Hotel restaurant is vegetarian. No meat, no fish, etc. (strangely, ham and related products are bailable for breakfast). This is one place to go with your significant other if you want the perfect romantic getaway. We sincerely hope to return one day.

Yes its more expensive than most other hotels in the town, but lets be clear you are paying for the exclusivity, the hotel occupies a peninsula all to itself behind secure gates operated by CCTV despite being just 10mins walk fom the old town. The hotel is within its own grounds, with private access to the sea in multiple directions, no sharing a beach with the masses here! Typically you will find yourself sharing the pool with less than 10 other guests throughout the day, meaning when you swim you pretty much have the pool to yourself. Its salt water which is not ideal, but the temperature was just fine mid-August, and you also have sunbeds at sea level for direct access. The breakfast is a 7 out of 10 a little below par for the price of hotel, but nothing overly wrong with it. Service is very good from ALL staff, they deliver a 5 star service and look after there guests, i think there are about 50 rooms but it feels like a dozen rooms such is the space available. Also has its own spa and plenty of secure car parking. You feel a class above when you stay here. The high price is because you are sharing the facilities with so few other guests. Worth pushing the boat out if you are here just for a couple of nights.
