very nice location on the hills above Verona. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are spacious. Definitely try their wine tasting - it is excellent. very nice breakfast buffet with a great view!
Our family stopped here while visiting several areas of Italy for Christmas holiday. The staff was amazing and the property is beautiful. We enjoyed the apartment and the breakfast and dinner were both delicious. We bought several of the offerings from the gift shop as a momento of our time in Verona. Our family of 5 had plenty of space and our dog loved running around the property. Thank you for a warm welcome and a great visit to all of the staff!
I really enjoyed my stay at Corte San Mattia. The room was comfortable, the view gorgeous, the staff friendly, and the food and wine of highest quality. I definiely recommend it for anyone wishing for an exceptional experience.
This property is truly gorgeous. Great for a family stay but way better for a couple due to its romantic environment. You should definitely stay here if you are coming to Verona. Additionally, the food is excellent and the views are breathtaking.
From the very second we walked in the staff was amazing (special shout-out to Marco at the front reception!). Easy check in and complementory welcome drink in the restaurant. Our room was in the same building as the restaurant and the view was to die for! The bed was so comfortable too! My girlfriend was a little bummed at the lack of a good hairdryer, but that was our one and only complaint. Before we left we made sure to buy a couple of bottles of their wine (and ran into the owner who was also really welcoming and nice enough to present his wines). We are most definitely coming back to this place. If you choose to stay here; make sure to try the restaurant as well!
Stayed at this property for our honeymoon. It was an average experience - but this was particularly disappointing given the other reviews and the fact that we were on our honeymoon and were looking for a more unique or robust experience. Maybe its just us? You may have more luck. The good - nice grounds and large room (although there is significant water damage on the walls and it needs attention)...and a very friendly dog that likes to let himself into the accommodation. What could be improved? Firstly - this was our honeymoon, and i mentioned it several times during booking and check in. A note from the manager, a heart-shaped bath towel on the bed, or maybe even a bottle of something to celebrate would have been a nice and easy gesture particularly given that the property is indeed a vineyard...but we were offered nothing - not even an acknowledgment that we selected the property for the start of our new life together. Luckily the next property we stayed at offered us all of the above. The location - its a lovely place, but given we took a taxi up there and also given that the rooms are quite a distance from reception (350m along a gravel road), it would have been nice if they offered some assistance with our bags. Similarly, taxis are not allowed to meet guests at the accommodation, so again we needed to walk to reception to meet or be dropped off. The reception also will not order a taxi for you unless you are physically present - and we missed a train because of the delays caused by this strange policy. We requested an iron so we could press some clothes for an evening out, but were told that there is none available. We stayed five nights I believe, and breakfast was not varied a single time. Also, there was no beer on offer at the restaurant. Apparently, the draught was broken for our entire stay. It would have been nice if some simple bottles were offered as an alternative. What we were offered was a 750ml bottle of craft beer....not exactly what you drink over dinner. And possibly my biggest letdown is that there was nothing to see or experience on the property. Usually agritourismos will offer information about the harvest, allow you to participate in some of the farming or observe various things - but nothing was possible here. We asked and were told that the owner is very busy but they would get back to us on the request - they never did. We were also bit up by mosquitos in the room. Housekeeping leaves the windows slightly ajar during the day and without screens, flies and mosquitos wander in. …
We spent a couple of nights at San Mattia Agrirurismo on our way home from a trip in Italy. The agriturismo is situated in a beautiful position, overlooking the town of Verona. It is located within very close driving (10 minutes) distance to the parking places and all the main tourist attractions of the town. Free parking is located right outside the guest rooms. Breakfast is included in the on-site restaurant, where dinner is also available and the excellent wines from the vineyards can be sampled and purchased. Recommended! Unfortunately they were just bottling this year’s olive oil harvest, so no we couldn’t take any home with us, but what we tasted in the restaurant was very good. We stayed in a room with a small kitchenette, which had a small fridge and two hotplates, as well as a kettle and a few pans for very simple home-catering. The room was very spacious and decorated with simple, older-style furniture and typical terracotta tiling on the floor. It has a shower with good pressure and a towel-heater in the bathroom, but unfortunately none of the heating was on during our stay (due to the drought this year, the heating had not been turned on yet) so it was not quite as comfortable as it might have been. The seasons were changing during our visit and so the room was quite chilly. Will definitely visit in summer next time, as the newly installed infinity pool (with panoramic views) really looked very inviting. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and featured lots of local produce. My travel companion tells me that the meat dishes at the restaurant were very tasty, but unfortunately the vegetarian ones were a bit of disappointment. Overall, a pleasant place to stop on your tour of Italy to take advantage of a trip to the charming city of Verona. …
Free espresso or alcohol when you check in for your reservation. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. We stayed in the mimosa room which was separate from the main building and had beautiful views of Verona. You are required to make a reservation for dinner. Appetizers, main meal and wine were delicious. They had a good variety for breakfast. I would definitely come back, I wish we would have stayed longer.
Wonderful place situated overlooking Verona. The staff were amazingly helpful and gave us assistance booking restaurants, taxis and providing general information. Food and wine on site were impressive and we couldn’t get enough of the vineyard’s Amarone. We sadly couldn’t do a tour of the vineyard but the staff arranged for us to do a tasting with dinner, which was a great way to at least taste the range of wines on offer. We can’t recommend this place enough and will be back as soon as we can!
What a nice location. Had a business meeting there with more than 10 people. Yes, it is an agriturismo, but you have everything needed. Food is excellent, rooms are clean-and it is so quiet. Even the WLAN is fast. Highly recommended, will come again.
