You can't beat this for a location! It is right in the heart of the action :) The staff on the front desk could however learn to smile once in a while? The room whilst aged, was big. Nice breakfast with good coffee. Has good and bad points :) Pick what means most to you :) When we stayed it was called Residence Inn Castelvecchio...it seems to have changed names but the pictures / address is the same.
We.'ve spent 3 nights in Castelvecchio Hotel. It is located only 2 mintes by walk from the Arena. The public transport from Railway Station is also amazing, the bus stop is only a few steps. The apartman was quite big and clean, the staff is very-very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fine and could have from 07:30 to 11:00. I warmly reccommend to anybody who wants to stay close to the city centre.
I found this place thru a friend of mine since I wanted to stay close to center of the city. The air-conditioning was totally ineffective and the furniture was really dated. I must say the linen and towels etc was clean. My room was overlooking the river and had a small kitchen. if someone is on a budget and want to stay close to the center then this is the place. Don't expect too much and you will be fine.
This is more of an extended stay mini apartment than a hotel, but it has a great location only a few blocks from the arena. Needing a cheap hotel for the Adele concert, we stayed one night. The location was the only redeeming factor. First, they say they have parking - they mean you get to compete for the street spots or trek to and from a garage. None of which is private or exclusive to the hotel. They say they have air conditioning - it doesn't work. They have one tiny wall unit in each 'apart hotel' setup that blows hot air no matter the setting and that only grudgingly. Overall, the appearance is shabby and in complete need of an overhaul. I'd drive home after a concert rather than stay here again.
Firstly we found this hotel through another site, which forever shall be classed as "optimistic", and the name appears to be different as even though it is in the exact same location it is called the Residence Hotel Castelvecchio. We wanted a hotel close to the opera and decided to blow the budget on a really nice place to stay... we didn't get it. Old everything, as in last updated in the early eighties, including the breakfast menu. We were in a luxury room which for the price was expected to be exactly that, we were taken up to the room via two elevators and a number of steps to a space which was nothing short of wrong. Damaged carpet (Cigarette burns) Dark and Water damaged bathroom Rickety fitting and fixtures Feeble air conditioning Bed made from either asphalt or concrete We spent one disappointing night in the Residence Hotel Castelvecchio and honestly wish that no traveller experience the same. …
This place has a great location. However because of that the ownership hasn't really seen it fit to update the hotel at all. It was clean but the mattresses were sunken and the furniture seemed to be put together from various trips to secondhand furniture stores. Rooms are enormous though. Kinda feels like traveling in Europe like it were 1985. Decent service and management and were quick to resolve concerns with room. Our room had a kitchen (in avocado!) but was clean and everything seemed to work.
We just stayed here on Saturday night. The staff were helpful and friendly, the location was outstanding and the room was very clean, however I felt like I had stepped back into the 70's. The room also was very dark. We stayed one night but had I stayed longer this room felt quite depressing everywhere except the bedroom was dark. They need to update the hotel. Otherwise no complaints!
We stayed for two nights at this hotel. We were 8 people, staying in 2 apartments. The apartments were of the highest quality. Very clean and spacious. The kitchen had all the necessary utensils and we were able to prepare our own meals. The breakfast was fantastic and when we had to leave early, the receptionist attends to our needs. The hotel is also very close to all the sightseeing places. Also the bus stops right in front of the hotel. Definitely worth a try.
Very nice, clean and spacious room. Stayed only for one night and was very affordable as it included breakfast and for 10€ more secure car parking. Was able to walk everywhere from the hotel but was not in an over crowded area of the city. Will definitely stay again next time we come to Verona.
The best that can be said about this hotel is it's potential. It has a great location and the room sizes are generous. The place is however very dated. Internally the rooms are drab and the bathrooms basic. The breakfast room is ridiculously small and the quality of the breakfast poor. Service is friendly but far from efficient. Only one person seems to speak English and she is not always on duty. My son left a medical appliance in the room and emails sent the following day and subsequently have gone unanswered.
