We stayed here for one night on our visit to Verona. The check in process was easy and they let us store our bag until the room was ready. The hotel is split over two buildings and we were located in the rooms away from the lobby. The room itself was OK, the bedroom was clean and I keeping with Verona decor, but the bathroom could have been better-lots of mould around the shower that could have been removed with some cleaner. The beam above our bed had a giant split in it which made it a little worrying, but we survived! Our room was right on the ground floor which meant we were woken up every time the door opened (and slammed shut!) overall I would say this hotel (at least our room) is ok for a short visit.
Positioned just a 2 minute walk from Piazza Bra you we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We were meant to stay at Hotel Marco Polo back in April 2020 for my wife's Birthday, however due to obvious reasons we were forced to cancel. The hotel generously honoured our pre paid break, extending our travel voucher 3 times before we finally managed to make plans to visit. Our outbound flight was delayed so we had to check in at Hotel Mastino, a sister hotel which is less that 100 yards around the corner. The gentleman on reception was expecting us and we were in our room within 5 minutes. Our room wa, light and airy with beautiful high beamed ceiling decorated in a modern yet typically Italian style. Our bed was huge and extremely comfortable and the breakfast buffet in the mornings was just what was needed to set you up for lots of walking around this beautiful city. When we return to Verona in the future I have no doubt we will try to stay at Hotel Marco Polo again.…
There are several reasons why we'll never visit this hotel again: - The main reason for us booking this hotel online was the information on the website that it has its own parking. When we arrived, we were told that they don't have it and that we have to park it in a garage, which was quite a long way from the hotel. And there was no such information during the booking process. This is especially annoying when you come to a hotel after a long journey and they send you to park your car elsewhere. - Second thing was that the hotel reception wasn't working at all and we needed to check in and out in a different hotel. This also meant that all the reception services were not available in our hotel but at the different one. - The receptionist from this different hotel wasn't behaving nice nor polite and he was quite mean to us for no specific reason. For example when we asked him to park our car he told us without any expression of politeness, that parking is simply not available. But to be fair, the hotel was clean, silent, rooms were big enough, breakfast was brought to our doorstep. TLDR: We've booked this hotel mainly because it was the only available one with declared parking compared to other hotels. And the receptionist personal was really really mean. Therefore, there's no real reason to return to this hotel. At least they can write to their description that the customer needs to book their parking upfront because there's no way to know it.…
We booked transportation from the airport through the hotel but there was no one to pick us up at the airport. This despite the fact that we had received a confirmation from the hotel the day before departure. That meant a large extra expense for us, that the hotel did not keep the deal. Booking breakfast at the hotel was a disaster. We waited forever and often got something we had not ordered. The coffee was ice cold. The location of the hotel is very nice
Typical city hotel we chose for it’s location and that was excellent. Walking distance to the opera, the river and many bars and restaurants. We paid around £150 per night for a superior room with breakfast. The room was ok the bathroom small, shower dreadful We didn’t get to see the spa. Car parking available at € 18 per day. When we arrived two staff could have been more attentive! Breakfast in the basement a lovely man but not enough tables, certainly you would not have time to have a relaxing breakfast. Selection limited but ok.
Down a small, quiet side street on the outskirts of the old city, this hotel was perfectly placed for sightseeing as we only had one night in Verona (avoid all the Romeo and Juliet stuff - guys, they were FICTIONAL! - and concentrate on the great Roman, medieval and Renaissance sights). The room cost 109 euros for the night, including breakfast. Parking cost 18 euros (more than the cost of our hire car per day!) We were escorted by a hotel employee to the underground car park about 100m away in the same street. We had to go down two levels and then reverse into quite a small individual garage (we were glad we didn’t have a big car!) The garage door was then locked and we were given a key. A nice touch were the jugs of iced water and juice (or prosecco if you wanted it!) and pastries on the table in the foyer on our arrival in the heat of the day. Our room was in another building about 50 yards away on the same street. The room was a mix of olde-world charm and very tasteful modern furnishings and bathroom fittings. Unusual fancy silver-coloured wrought iron bed head. Immaculately clean. Good toiletries, good WiFi, fridge and safe, but no kettle. Very unusually, a set of scales - best avoided after all the pasta and pastries! Odd, quirky narrow horizontal windows had only sheer curtains, which let the street light in at night and the daylight woke us at 5.30am. The air conditioning was pretty ineffective, which made it too hot in bed at night. Breakfast was in the basement of the main building and OK. Good scrambled eggs, not so good juice. Small packets of cereals. Yogurt, apples and oranges, ham, cheese and rolls, cakes and pastries. As often the case, excellent coffee and hot chocolate, made to order.…
We recently stayed here for 1 night whilst visiting Verona and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Fortunately we were able to check in early when arriving and our room was just what we needed. Clean room and good service with a good buffet breakfast included. The hotel was right near the historic centre with only a 5 minute walk to the main square. Staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Will be recommending this hotel to others who are visiting Verona.
The hotel is located in a walking distance to the historic center area. There were two wings, we were a bit lost to find the reception area as it's further down from the first hotel sign. Fortunately, another tourist who stayed there just pointed to the direction. We got the attic room and it's quite spacious. The service was great, it has the cozy feeling.
If you ask for a superior room, it doesn’t mean that you have a better bed. Bigger bed for them is the same as 2 small beds together. The sauna and jacuzzi are not included and are not on the building. It’s the same as ordering a pizza and pay for the pasta on the side... If you go at the end of the day and complaint... they say that it is nothing written about on your file... So... if you pay extra money for a big bed, for a chance to use a sauna or a jacuzzi and you don’t have it.... you WON’T be redound and you have to suck it!!! That’s why I’m giving MARCO POLO HOTEL 1 star!!!
Hello Dear TA members. I stayed in the beautiful boutique Marco Polo hotel in fair Verona in March 2019. Here is my impression... 1/ Location: in between the Verona Porta Nuova station and Piazza Bra - totally convenient and walkable to the trains - 16 min ( i specifically calculated) without rushing. 3 min walk to Piazza Bra and/or Castelvecchio bridge. Big Eurospar supermarket is just around the corner. 2/ Great spacious room with splendid fixtures like ceiling beams, small windows, lovely sitting area and very well appointed bathroom. Even scales are in present. 3/ The hotel has 2 buildings - reception and breakfast are in the main one, the annex is located on the same street just 20 meters away. I was booked in the annex, so the reception provided me with the instruction how to access the annex, how to open the front door etc. The key-card that is given to you is for all: building front door, your room door and electricity locket. 4/ Spa is also located in the annex building on the -1 level. I didn`t use it, so can not comment, but spa menu is avaliable in your room together with other info booklets. 5/ both building have a lift 6/ the only thing that i would add to the room equipment is tea/ coffee making facilities. All the rest is just perfect 7/ a very nice touch is a jar of lemonade on the reception for the checking-in guests and if you are just passing by the reception you may have a glass too. 8/ breakfast ( in ther main building) spread is a well stocked selection of cold and hot dishes, yogrurts, cereal, fruits, cakes, juices etc. Soya milk is avaliable. Coffee is served by hand of a nice waiter who is greets you in the breakfast room every morning. Breakfast is served from 7 to 10 am. 9/ check-out is 11:30 am 10/ wifi signal works perfectly, never had a problem with it. 11/ will i stay in the place again if occasion arises? definitely YES. Will i recommend it to TA members? Yes, with full heart. regrads S…
