I was there last weekend (30/12-01/12) with my boyfriend for a romantic weekend. Everything was great; the room and the bathroom were clean and the location is optimal (everything is just one step away). The most wonderful thing though, was the breakfast. We loved it! We took it in the amazing Café Coloniale, everything was tasty and there was a huge variety of food and drinks. The only negative aspect was the owner, he could have smiled once or twice...however next time I’ll be in the city, I’ll most definitely stop here.
Pro: Central, clean Co : Access to the room with no Elevator, the stairs are unsuitable for Kids and prime Breakfast is outside the building with a very restricted choise The bathroom in the room is unconfortable. Mini fridge in the room is too noisy The first day we were awakened by a tremendous noise due to renovation work from upstair. No good relationship between quality/price
Location is the best. We had triple room for two; found it very spacious, high ceilings, wonderful street view from balcony, quiet. The personnel was nice and friendly. They offer very pleasant breakfasts in a nearby cafe - wonderful and leisurely way to start the day. The only thing to keep in mind is that you pick up the keys in the cafe as well, so better check location in advance.
I stayed here during a business visit where our partner lived nearby. It was an easy walk to anywhere in town, and for getting together for meetings. The price was fair, and breakfast was just around the corner in the affiliated cafe, which was pleasant. The room was reasonably modern, there was wifi in the room (a bit slow) and at the cafe (better), and I had a key so I could come and go as I pleased. While certainly not a luxury palace, and you will likely have to climb stairs, I had a nice balcony view of a slice of town, and it was reasonably quiet, despite being in the center of it all. Highly recommend!
I was very surprised when a I reached this place. Let's talk about positive things: location in the heart of Verona. That's all! The person who manages this place is a brave man. How is it possible to pay 90€ for a basement? It was incredible to persuade me that I was not having a nightmare. The room was underground reachable with dangerous and very steep stairs. Bed was wedged between two walls, and you could only going up from the frontal side. May be this place has other beautiful solutions, but it's unbelievable try to rent a room like that I received, and if you are so sure to do it, everything should has been perfect (instead to see dirty walls around you). I will never come to this place.
We were very contented, B&B Casa Coloniale is central, clean and we got a good price. The owner welcomed us with tipps for the best pizzeria. Breakfast is given in Cafe Coloniale round the corner - with fresh pressed orange juice and what someone wishes. If we go to Verona again, we will come again!
A real little gem, centrally located on the edge of the Piazza Erbe, and close to all of the main sights in Verona, e.g. the arena is a 10 minute walk. I was travelling lightish, so walked from the railway station (30 mins). Luca (the owner) was very friendly and helpful Breakfast is in the Caffe' Coloniale (5 mins away), and I had a snack and beer there most evenings. I had the 'basement' room, and so wasn't sure what to expect, but plenty of space plus ensuite bathroom with shower. An ideal spot for exploring Verona, will definitely be back. Excellent value!!!
Very good located, rather big, comfort clean room. Stayed there for 2 nights. Cleaning every day. Good breakfast in cafe in 2 min from hotel. Good fast wifi. Perfect location for visiting and walkting down the town. Situated exactly on Piazza Erbe and Julietta`s balcony is really in 50 metres! Arena di Verona is in 7 min walking, shopping street is in 1 min. Nearest taxi stop is right on Piazza Erbe. U can catch taxi 24 hours. Very nice owner, who met me, gave keys, eplained everything. Last day after check out they gave me keys from B&B and i could leave my luggage in hall till time i needed (i`ve picked up it after midnight)! If i`ll return to Verona, i`ll stay in this hotel for sure!
Be careful what room you are booking because mine was a basement that anyone human being couldn t stay there.only rats.the smell was descanting! so we left the room and they didn't gave us all the money back.only a part!the breakfast was very poor.only coffee, juice and croissant.
Both good and bad points about this accommodation, but it was in line with other reviews on 'trip advisor', so it is exactly what I was expecting and was perfect for my needs. Just stayed for one night to go to the opera whilst passing through Verona on route to stay with a friend. Could walk about 30 mins from train station and 10 mins to the area/amphitheatre. Excellent central location for tourist activities and easy to find, owner very friendly and pleasant manner, decent sized room with own wc, tv and air con at a very good price for something so central. I hardy spent any time in the room and wanted my own bathroom as it was a tight schedule from arriving to having to go out for the evening - this was the most reasonably priced central room that wasn't in a hostel that i could find at short notice- booked via budgetplaces.com with no problems. Paid small deposit upon booking and rest upon arrival. Was the basement room- and as some other reviews had pointed out it was a bit damp, obviously from some flooding in the past, or simply because it was in the basement of a very old building. This is mostly the wooden floor around the bed area, but much effort has been made to keep the whole room clean and presentable. The 'window is not really a window and has an air vent to the street, so don't expect any natural light - I would not suggest staying in this room if any of these things bother you, or if you intend to do much apart from sleep in the room. I would probably stay here again, but if for more than a flying visit, I'd prefer one of the other higher up rooms (which are slightly more expensive I think). Bathroom clean/looked relatively newly tiled, with soap and towels provided and good hot high powered shower. The owner's main provision of business is a restaurant on the next block, and a you're provided with a voucher to have a very good breakfast there, which would probably cost about 12 euros or so somewhere else, possibly more: fresh pastries, juice, yoghurt, tea/coffee. To this end, there is no one permanently on site at the property at night, but I get the impression the owner is just a short walk away as he arrived within 5 mins of me calling upon arrival to let me in for the first time and hand over keys. …
