Arrived late and they had left my information with the restaurant next door so I was in quickly and found a beautiful room at an excellent price. Small, or rather compact, but beautiful. Nice people too. Very close to San Marco and plenty of food options.

My partner booked this trip for my 21st. Perfect location, right next to San Marco. Staff were very helpful and kind, didnt have fantastic understanding of english but always found a way of communicating. Only stayed 2 nights but during the time the room was clean and staff was always around (or in the restaurant) to be of help. Would...

We stayed at Ca La Bricola in May 2016. Fabulous location just off San Marco square. Easy to find - if you are taking the water bus, get off at San Marco, cross the square and pass under the tower with the big clock on the far side. Then second right, and keep going until you see the restaurant of...

The hotel is very well located, within walking distance of many of the main attractions. The hotel was decent enough for our needs, with bed, bathroom, shower and breakfast all fine. The room is fairly small but this didn't bother us as we spent very little time there. It wasn't easy to find the place, or the entrance, and we...

It is a wonderful place to stay in Venice: great location (1 minute walk from St. Marco square), friendly hosts, very comfortable and cozy rooms, clean bathroom, wi-fi, good breakfast (tasty coffee, meat, cheese and croissants!). Very good value for the price! The hosts also have a wonderful restaurant at the ground floor - the restaurant and the entrance to...

Excellent place to stay. Location was perfect - 2 minute walk from St Marks Square and a 5 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge.. Bedrooms are well appointed with typically Venetian decor and private bathroom/jacuzzi. Easy to find - get off the water bus at St Marks, cross the square immediately in front of St Marks Basilica, heading for the...

Good place to stay. Really good localization, good breakfast with fantastic expresso and cappuccino. Good service and good bedrooms. Even that is only 200m away from Piazza S. Marco is quite calm, so we had no problems to sleep at night. If we will come back to Venice we will try to stay here again.

Firstly to find the hotel is a little bit difficult, But it is venice finding anything is difficult it is so easy to get lost! When we found the hotel, we were left outside for several minutes before a waiter from a restaurant next door (lucky we walked through, when a local was showing us directions to the hotel) came...

This place isn't easy to find. Its front door fronts a courtyard and not a via. Best to locate this hotel at home on a map before going to Venice to avoid asking locals for directions. The hotel is in very good condition. Marble everywhere. Card access to rooms and the front door. All modern appliances. Our bathroom was clean...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
