I would probably not stay in this hotel the second time. The place and the room itself was really nice and clean, but things happened during my stay which really bothered me. For the first thing, they have a curfew from 12 am to 6am which I find ridiculous. I had to rush back to the hotel from my trip...

We are really sorry for what happened during your stay, but you have to consider that those things rarely happen... The fire alarm could ring if a guest smoke in the room (it is forbidden) or use a particular spray, you cannot complain as our fault. Anyway it was the first time that happened this year... The trouble with the...

I only stayed one night here as I could not stand staying another night. The beds are so incredibly uncomfortable, all I could feel were springs and were incredibly loud and i woke up with a sore back. Room very basic, nothing in there whatsoever. I got bitten all over my body from mosquitoes which kept me awake through the...

I just laughed very much reading this review. Please read all the reviews, not only the bad ones. The most guests are happy for the service offered at Casa Caburlotto, because they know where they are! Casa Caburlotto is a religious guest house, what do you expect if not a sober atmosphere? All guests should know in advance about the...

Hotel was nice, very close walking distance to train station and main bus stop which is very handy after a long flight no having to walk far with luggage. It is located in a nice quiet area and you can walk to all the main attractions, close to vaporetto station to go to islands. There is no TV in the...

I have stayed here a couple times. It is easy to reach from the train station which is a plus. We loved the area Doroscuro , and avoided crowds by visiting San Marco from the bridge near the Accadamia. Arriving in Venice and avoiding a Vaporetto ride to your hotel is also desirable.

I stayed for 1 night while passing througj Venice with 5 friends. I had seen numerous good reviews and looked forward to staying here so I was disappointed. The staff were very abrupt and rude and whenever I needed anything they seemed reluctant to help. The rooms were spotless and comfortable but I cannot say the same for the manner...

We remember you very well, you tried to kid us all of you. You booked 2 rooms for total 5 people, after your arrival you tried to bring in another girl without informing us (that is also forbidden by a law in Italy, just to inform you). Do you think that was a good attitude from you? Obviously we do...

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is more of a guest house than a hotel and the rooms and furnishings are very simple. That said, it is a peaceful place in a quiet location, with its own garden. It is close to Piazzale Roma, which is the nearest that cars and buses can get to the city of Venice and...

"The Casa Caburlotto is not exactly a hotel. It's more of a B&B place that is run by the Sisters of the order of St Joseph of Caburlotto. The Casa used to be the home of Don Luigi Caburlotto, newly beatified." said the young lady at reception. I found the Reception staff to be very helpful in response to questions...

My daughter and I booked two adjoining rooms and had an updated bathroom to share. It was perfect! We stayed 3 nights and the price was so much cheaper than a hotel. The staff was UNBELIEVABLY helpful, breakfast was included, and to top it all off, we were in an excellent location! We walked everywhere, even to the ferry docks...

Within walking distance of both the train and bus stations, this hotel is ideal for people who want an affordable option in Venice that is also spotless and quiet. No television, so you have to unplug a bit, but the internet works well, and a computer and pritner are available, too. (A godsend, since I was working and had forgotten...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
