It is located close the train station but you can also get the city center by foot. It has all the facilities you may expect and more: the room is quite and warm at night, the bathroom clean and the breakfast included fresh fruit and a deliciuos handmade marmalade. Further, the host, Daniella, is a really charming woman that helped...

We spent 1 night at this B&B and it was pretty much perfect. The whole place was spotless and the room was a great size. The homemade breakfast was great and the host was very kind and very knowledgeable about the local area and transport links. I actually felt sad to leave and can't recommend it enough.

If you don't have a place at al gallon reconsider your trip to Venice. First make sure you have a place here with the lovely host Daniella, then you can buy your plane ticket. Daniella n her son Emanuel made sure that we had a wonderful time, very good breakfast n comfortable stay. Location is also best of Venice. Don't...

Ideally located in the neighbourhood of the train station, but also in walking distance from the main city attractions, the BnB offers a large and comfort room, delicious breakfast and daily advice from our host Daniela. An ideal and excellent place to stay to visit Venice.

My Mum and I just got back from a week in Venice and we used Al Gallion as our base. It was a superb choice for us. We were very pleased to have found two spacious rooms in the beautiful Sestiere de S. Croce, a super location for exploring the city, but not at all busy and crowded. It is...

We were given 2 connecting rooms during our recent stay with them. The rooms are spacious and clean. As for location, it is conveniently located quite near to the railway train station as well as walking distance to the various places of interest. Each morning, we were greeted by the homemade yummy breakfast prepared by Daniela. A big thanks to...

I absolutely loved my recent stay at Daniela's B & B. From the moment we walked in the door and she welcomed us with a delicious cup of coffee we felt right at home. Her B & B is very easy to get to and is a five minute walk from the train station in a quiet, residential neighbourhood (away...

We stayed here for 3 nights and when Daniela was unable to meet us she sent her son to greet us instead and he was very enthusiastic to do so. We were supplied with our own map where she carefully drew out the best way to get to different parts of the city. Her son also went over the different...

This was our second stay at Al Gallion, and we were once again overwhelmed by the kind hospitality that Daniela so graciously gave us. The location is perfect -about a 10 minute walk to the train station, in a quiet part of Venice with several delicious neighborhood restaurants to choose from. Her home is lovely with gorgeous terrazzo floors and...

This bed and breakfast was wonderful! The owner, Daniela, was so sweet and so helpful. She gave us a map, recommended easy walking tours, recommended great restaurants, and explained all the vaporetto routes. The location is ideal as it is less than a 10 minute walk from the train station. Venice is super easy to get around so even though...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
