I first visited this hotel in 2007 with my ex-husband and remembered it when I was looking for somewhere reasonably priced for a weekend with a friend. It has been extended a bit since my first stay (which I think was shortly after it opened) but the warm welcome and friendly service remain. We arrived in Venice early in the...

We loved our stay at the palazzo cendon and the only reason for that was our room. We were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and booked the junior suite of the hotel and trust me it was wonderful. The room is very huge decorated in elegant venetian style furniture with murano chandeliers and a four posted bed. The bathroom is...

What a fab little gem of a hotel this was. I went off other Trip Advisor reviews and you were all spot on! Not expensive and the rooms were large and beautifully decorated with a large modern bathroom. The hotel staff were fantastically friendly and so helpful. Breakfast is the basic continental affair but there was lots of it! Less...

Wanted to try a different part of Venice to stay and decided for this quieter corner, near the Tre Archi bridge. The building is an original palazzo but the rooms have seem better days. Reapirs were needed in the bathroom, etc. Besides, I could practically hear my neighbours breathing... However, it was not expensive and the reception staff was very...

A lovely hotel with beautiful rooms. All antique that makes you feel as if you are living in the middle ages when Venice was the heart of the world and you were wealthy! The hotel is situated on walking distance of all the main sites to see and there is a boat stop very closeby.

This hotel was a 6 minute walk from the train station and a 12 minute walk to the bus station which was great on arrival and departure as we did not need to spend on water taxis. The hotel was about a half an hour walk from San Marco Square. The area is a little more quite than other areas...

Palazzo Cendon was an amazing experience.. I didn't want to leave! The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The bathroom was newly renovated. The bars, cafe and restaurants nearby are all reasonablely priced. As it is slightly off the beaten path it was most relaxing as well

Thoroughly recommend this little gem of a hotel in the Cannaregio district in Venice. Great helpful service received by all staff members and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in room number 2 which had views over the canal and the room was simply stunning. A lovely four poster bed was the centre piece with all the normal mod...

I love my hotel. It's so cute and its close to the dock of guglie. Very easy to get to from the airport via water bus. The bathroom is nice and spacious. I love looking out my window to see the canals. Taking pictures at this area is good, bc it's not busy body like the other touristy area. The...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
