Stayed in the hotel in the beginning of May. Have to say I was a bit nervous from reading the reviews after I booked. But I was pleasantly surprised. True, it isn't exactly on the canal, but it was a really nice experience. Rooms were super clean, a bit on the small side. Staff was really helpful and it is...

This hotel is in a great location. No more than a ten minute (or less) walk to St. Mark's Piazza, this location is wonderful because it is convenient, yet quiet and a private water taxi drops you off almost right at the doorway. Our room had single beds (which we requested, as we noted that King beds are unique in...

Look don't get me wrong. We had a few issues with broken hairdryer : broken shower : TV not working and AC issues. We had the very top room and was a family room, more like a converted attic. The staff were great and fixed everything however for the price, 500 plus euros a night. No way. Over priced and...

Lovely hotel. Ideally located for all the tourist sites. Rooms were clean, all amenities provided. My advice? Pay for a view of the Grand Canal, well worth it. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, ticks all the boxes.

We spent a long weekend here during our honeymoon, and it was absolutely perfect for our Venetian experience. Yes, there are small cosmetic flaws, but the entire city has flaws. It's old and it's beautiful. The bathroom was nice, the bed was comfortable, and the room was always clean. What more do you want when you're staying in a city...

We stayed in the junior suite with a balcony on the Grand Canal. Suite was spacious and comfortable except for the bed was too hard - something we found everywhere we went so it's not out of the ordinary for Europe. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choices and we had plenty of time for a leisurely breakfast. The...

Typical Venice style hotel. It felt family run as everyone was happy, friendly, polite etc. Breakfast was amazing, pastries, fruit, toast everything you want from a continental breakfast and plenty of it. Room was spacious and clean, they have satellite TV and free Wifi. Very impressed. Easy access to everything.

We spent four nights at this property and due to having heavy luggage to haul, we opted for the taxi boat transfer at EUR60 from train station to just down the alley from the hotel. Our room on the first floor was reasonably sized, it had a double bed, a desk, wall-mounted TV and a little side table. The bathroom...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
