Stayed here based on price and also location. We wanted somewhere that was in a quiet area and within walking distance of everything which this was. Takes about 40 minutes to work your way round Venice to St Marks Square but to be honest it's a beautiful route or you can get the water bus just along from the hotel....

The hotel is very close to both railway and bus station . Rooms are basic but very clean , we had one with a bathroom , also had a hairdryer. Breakfast is continental style but good , croissants are fresh , coffee ok and served from 7.30 to 9.30 . The reception staff is very helpful and polite , on...

This hotel is excellently located, within easy walking distance of the train and bus stations. You can also easily walk to explore all the attractions that Venice has to offer. Our room was quiet, as we faced the back of the hotel; however, our companions had a room that faced onto the lane and it was noisy on Friday and...

We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel was close to the railway station and bus station. We walked to the hotel from the airport shuttle, it is a short walk, there are a lot of steps to go over the bridge that leads from the bus station to the train station. The other option is to take the water...

We had hired a porter to carry our luggage from railway station to the hotel, since we knew that there is no elevator in the hotel we had asked him to take the luggage to our room too. But the old staff at the reception Laurence was so blunt and rude to us , he pointed his finger at us...

This hotel is excellent! I stayed here with friends and we found it was the perfect place for us to stay in Venice! It's hidden down a beautiful italian alley but over looks many other hotels and offers a great view (depending on your room) at sunset! The decor is lovely and rooms were all very comfortable! The only struggle...

Walking distance to the railway station; the hotel is not facing the Main Street hence is quiet at night; Value for money; simple breakfast; plenty of restaurant nearby; get a bottle of wine and enjoy your night in the beautiful city

Good value, great location (right near the train station and water taxis), but the room was not great. Lots of mosquitoes, tiny shower with no curtain, needed to get into an argument to get more than one device connected to wifi, breakfast was not tasty.

Friendly staff, nice room with balcony and en suite on small quiet but well used lane. Reasonable rates, would love to live there. Eateries very close by. Vaporettos at end of street also a pedestrian bridge if you want to walk to see the sights.

First stayed here about 30 or more years ago as single man. Returned annually and went there for honeymoon. Took step daughter and later her husband too in following years. It's minutes from station and not much more from Piazzale Roma. If that isn't enough of a recommendation, always pleasant friendly staff, comfortable rooms. Whilst so close to everything it's...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
