One of the best stays in our trip to Europe. Very safe place and very clean rooms and bathrooms. The rooms were just remodeled with premium grade materials and good taste. Near to the train station and located in the main street that leads to San Marcos Square so you do not get lost. Anna-Maria is a great person and...

highly Recommend - perfect for a family - we had the small suite with kitchenette - this enabled us to prep some light meals which helps if you travel on a budget and have picky eaters! Hostess Anna Marie was lovely and extremely helpful.

4 nights in Venice in March - it was cold! So bring warm clothing to Venice in March. It is very close to station and bus staion but diificult to find as there is no prominent B&B sign outside and it was 10.00 in the night! The B&B was a small apartment run by Anna-Maria who was very welcoming but...

We (2 moms, 2 teenage daughters) just returned from Venice this week. Our stay at Le Mansarde B&B (email: stefano.cazzaro@fastwebnet.it) was fantastic. We were in the loft apartment, with a small kitchenette, hardwood floors, a/c, quality linens and towels, sofa bed and twin beds in the loft, reasonably priced at 160Euro, for 4 of us. Located only 10 minutes from...

I just returned home to New York after a five night trip to Venice and am so grateful that I found Le Mansarde B&B! It was so fantastic to stay there. It is perfectly located because it is close to the station - about a ten minute easy walk - and in a part of Venice where you can escape...

This is a wonderful B&B just minutes from the train station but enough out of the way that you're removed from all the bustle. The rooms are on the top floor, with a good view over the roof tops of Cannaregio. The owner was very helpful and steered us toward good restaurants and some great sightseeing tips. Very friendly, good...

I read about this place in one of Rick Steve's guidebooks - Italy 2005. It was even better than he described! Where to start- First, it is located in a residential neighborhood, a couple blocks from the historic Jewish Ghetto (not a ghetto as Americans know it), and a very convenient ACTV bus stop. And an ATM right downstairs! The...

This is a review of our trip to Venice and Le Mansarde. Ok, what to for a long weekend? Well, it is easy if you plan ahead but if you are sitting at the couch on a Thursday just before the long weekend, it kinda gets difficult. We went to a long 5 days trip last time covering 1900km (1892...

With hosts like Anna-Maria and her family Venice in the future is definitely in our plans again. We typically stay in Hotels but our friends convinced us to try a B&B and we couldn’t have been more pleased, we really felt comfortable, the entire home is impeccably clean and modern, there’s a great deck over looking the city and the...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
