I brought my sons to Venice this summer and we thoroughly enjoyed the Residence. The staff were hospitable, helpful and generous with their time. The location is of course fabulous, just a few minutes away from St. Marc's Square. Yet I really appreciated the quiet charm of the property. A huge plus was the kitchenette, 2 bathrooms and the laundry... More

We stayed here due to its location in San Marco and because we could have 3 beds. It was a spacious, charming and quiet suite with views of the canal and two bathrooms plus a kitchenette. Service was polite and professional but they were helpful in making recommendations for our dietary concerns. My four star rating instead of five is... More

Everything about this accommodation is wonderful - the location so close to St Mark's Square, the staff are helpful & friendly, the price is so reasonable & the rooms are spacious & clean. We arrived via the ferry to Rialto then walked to the Residence (thank goodness for googlemaps) & left via water taxi to the train station (what a... More

Stayed for 3 nights, perfect location. Staff very helpful and welcoming. One receptionist was even kind enough to lend us her own umbrella on a rainy evening. Room was very spacious, clean and with everything you need really, including a small kitchen and nice table to sit at. Highly recommended

The Residence's staff was so courteous and thoughtful during our last stay in Venice. As it was my wife's birthday, they put out a birthday message, chocolates and a bottle of prosecco. The hotel is spacious, well-equipped and centrally located. Only a few minutes from the Rialto docks and Piazza San Marco. Thanks again to the staff! Grazie Mille!

we had a delightful stay at this gem in the middle of Venice. The family room surprised me in its size [ very large, 2 full size rooms and an extra small little room that was great for kids]. The property is wonderfully situated, literally minutes from San Marco and Rialto. Easily accessed from the vaporettos and with a gondola... More

We stayed in a superior apartment with a canal view ( really great view). The fifth floor was mostly quiet ( could hear gondaleers singing as they went by during the day), very spacious, clean, and comfortable and a five minute walk to St Marks Square. Another plus was that there were no bridges between the vaporetta and the hotel,... More

This place was fine, clean and spacious but I'm not sure why it has such a high rating on here. If you want to use the kitchenette then it's an extra 50€ cleaning charge (which seems a bit steep, especially if you leave it clean!) which seems like a lot. There are two old style electric hobs, a microwave and... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
