Me and my husband spent two nights. Little tricky to find when the alley way is crowded with people, as you are looking out for them and not the little doorway enterance of this B&B. We arrive rang the doorbell, and were buzzed in (our Italian host had already called ahead for us). Everything was laying at the small reception...

Stayed here with my wife and had no troubles checking as we came in late. The staff are lovely and helpful and clean the rooms each day. The breakfast is simple but just perfect and the room is decorated in the old Venetian style! The main stand out however is the location, nicely up off the street, but very close...

My friend and I stayed here for a night on a Saturday. It's located in the fancy shopping area, just behind piazza San Marco, which is fantastic. The staff were kind, the room was nice. The bathroom (especially the shower) is very tiny, but clean. Having breakfast in the room is certainly a plus! Unfortunately this happens because the structure...

At best, I would call this an old run down bed and breakfast. 1st of all, getting to the location was very difficult with luggage. Got lost trying to find it and called the number provided. Of course, no answer as we are standing in the rain. Asked a few stores and vendors around the area for the hotel and...

The hotel is nicely located between St. Marks and Rialto bridge. The directions provided by the hotel were not very clear - especially for a first time visitor to Venice. They start out "take the small street in front of you." If you're from the US all the streets are small and the one they meant looks more like an...

Only four rooms in this small, pleasant hotel, not far from San Marco Square. Really nice staff. Comfortable room. Nice breakfast. Could have used more hot water later in the day but plenty in the morning!

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
