Arrival is not as complicated as some put, but not 10 minutes with luggage, like 15 or 20, but we arrived at 7:45 pm reception and no one was in reception when he said that the reception was open until 8, I was just an envelope with instructions on how to get open 3 doors and an apartment was on... Unprofessional, rude staff that left us stranded. The credit card we gave the hotel was mistakenly declined and instead of trying again, or contacting us, they cancelled our reservation. We were informed over the hotels front door intercom that our room was given away and they had no availability. The host would not even let us in the front door... More

We were three travelers to Venice in September 2015. We were pleasantly surprised to find the accommodation for 3 was in fact a suite with 2 separate rooms.. Our room had a fresh green painted wall which I loved! It has a great location with vaporetto stop right next door. The stay included classic Italian breakfast(croissant and coffee etc) in... More

In May, we made a reservation here for 2 nights in September via Booking.com, but the inn used bogus reasons to cancel our reservation and give it to someone else. Here's how they did it: As our travel date approached, we got emails saying they attempted to pre-authorize our credit card but it was declined. Our credit card company had... More

We arrived in Venice and it was 30 degrees! The directions that the hotel had provided were perfect and we reached the hotel after a ten minute walk from Santa Lucia station. The hotel is perfectly situated amongst shops and restaurants. Everywhere is within easy walking distance. The staff were excellent -allowing us into our room early, talking us through... More

Just a vaporetto stop or so away from the railway station and less than a block's walk from the Grand Canal, practically next door to the Casino. The only minus is that every now and then you get a whiff of an unpleasant smell--it comes from the canal, not from the house, and the experience is not uncommon in Venice.... More

Great place if you're just interested in a place to rest your head, nothing fancy. The location was superb, however the staff honestly want nothing to do with you other than handing you your key. Don't ask any questions or you will get your head bit off with a snarky response. The air conditioning barely worked, as you know the... More

No air conditioning, although they did give us fans. Really hot in the upper 90s during the summer. Lovely garden. The family room in the annex building has an uncomfortable pull out couch. Coupled with no air conditioning it was a sweaty stay. It was close to the vapporetto stop. Quiet corner of a boisterous neighborhood. They gave us good... More

This B&B is really perfect if you want a quiet place in Venice. Very practical. Close to the vaporetto. I do agree with the right terms of Laurac 1357 and Abeonde. So no repetitions.. Good assistance from Marco, breakfast is oké, nice cats in a nice garden. We slept in the annex building 2 bed room. Just around the corner of... More

I really liked this hotel. There isn't always someone around, so if you need a lot of attention, this probably isn't a great choice, but you can contact the staff easily if needed. The breakfast is typically Italian: some nice rolls with butter, jam, and cheese, a croissant, and good, strong coffee, but the standout is that it is served... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
