My husband and I stayed there for three nights in June and had a wonderful experience. The breakfast was simple and delicious. The room was clean, charming, and comfortable. The best part of the accommodations was the close proximity to San Marcos, (2 min walk) and also being in a quiet location. We would most certainly return!

excellent location, lovely staff, very big rooms (it's europe, venice and budget!) and then with only five rooms, beautiful decor and the little back alley, you definitely feel you are in venice. i loved the feel of the place more than anything and would definitely recommend it for that. but if you are looking for clean, comfortable, budget and great...

Quite quirky, but nice little hotel, great value, great staff and good breakfast. Great location, minutes from St Marks square. A very walkable city, 20 mins walk from Rialto Bridge but don't stop there, I recommend carry on walking to the Jewish Quarter area and beyond, you will be rewarded with great views etc.. Just like Arnie, "we'll be back"

We stayed here for three nights at the end of March 2012. Tucked away in a side street but only two minutes walk from San Marco, this is a quiet hotel. Warm, friendly welcome and very helpful people. The room was large and spotlessly clean - good, crisp bed linen which which was changed daily. The bathroom was newly refurbished,...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights for a long weekend together. It is owned by a nice couple, but is not a 24 hour service desk. The chap did wait for us to get there late in the evening though, and we were given front door keys so we could stay out late for the rest of...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
