My husband and I absolutely loved this hotel! What a great find. It is not located on the busy touristy streets. So it felt quieter and more private. But you can easily walk to everywhere you want to visit in Venice. The hotel is beautiful! The service was great starting the moment we walked into the door. We were offered...

A very nice hotel with really great staff providing a nice experience. This hotel is located in the more residential area of Venice, so if you are after a hotel that is close to the main attractions then this is possibly not the best. However, if you want to stay somewhere a little out of the crowd but still easily...

Arrived at this hotel in the dark by speed boat and my wife and I couldn't have hoped for better. A warm welcome and an upgraded room awaited us. The room was excellent but the view wasn't much to shout about, but you don't go away to look out of the hotel window all day. The room itself was immaculate...

We loved our stay here. Beautiful room, lovely public areas. A bonus of a garden and canal seating area. Friendly staff, and a great breakfast too. In a fab area, quiet and away from the madness. Tea making facilities would be nice and the bar is expensive. €8 for a spritzer which will get you 2 in the cafes. €8...

The location we found had a good balance. Jus a short 5min walk from the river boat stop to hotel which is a direct route from...

This is a lovely hotel. Within walking distance of all the sights but far away enough for peace and quiet. Also very easy to get to/from airport. Breakfast can be a bit busy so go early or opt for breakfast in your room. Staff are very helpful, this is definitely a wonderful hotel.

The hotel and room are beautifully appointed in Moorish style. One feels like they are stepping into a luxurious haven. Staff were superior. Although the breakfast which was included with the room charge was excellent, a meal ordered from the restaurant was disappointing. The above two services seemed to be handled separately. A special treat was the water left at...

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. It was a pleasant surprise of a hotel tucked away from the busy touristy areas. Service was beyond expectations. The breakfast was much nicer than others we had during our stay in Italy. Wonderful pastries and fresh meats and cheeses along with eggs, bacon, cereal etc. The room was beautifully appointed with arm chairs to...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

  • Plenty of room here - just keep the windows closed because of the mosquitoe. There is excellent
  • Lots of room for cat swinging ... if that's your thing.
