This is a pensione. It is in an alley way and the bed is comfortable and clean. The breakfast is adequate and the staff are friendly. There is so much to see in Venice that we did not need to be sitting around in the hotel all day, so why would we want to play a high price for a...

We were staying in the apparthotel that belongs to this hotel and when our flight got cancelled and we had to stay one more night in Venice we just went here. As the tittle suggests, the room was really tiny! There was a bed, a wardrobe, a chair and a nightstand, crammed into this small space. It was a struggle...

We stayed in Apartment 1099 which was nice and clean, quiet and the bed was very comfortable. We received a nice welcome at reception who spoke sufficient English. The kitchen/breakfast area was a separate room with all the equipment we needed including a fridge and cooker. The shower was easy to use and hot. Toiletries were provided. The towels were...

The hotel is reasonable in its price & the room is spacious, the receptionist was rude a little bit . the breakfast is poor & lack varieties & you will need a guide to go there fir the first time as it's misleading in a very narrow street. You can be guided &with the luggage porter. They are a lot...

This hotel has a wonderful location (at least where our room was-- I've seen that other visitors have been positioned throughout the city) in that it is actually on the island and just around the corner from the train station and main bridge that leads to the Rialto and San Marco plaza. The bathroom is shared among the two rooms...

I booked this hotel for 2 nights in January 2016. My flight arrived at 22.30 and I arrived at the hotel about an hour later to find it CLOSED! There was also no answer on the hotel phone. I found some Italians in a nearby restaurant who helped me to decipher a note in the hotel door (the hotel is...

This hotel was a "bait and switch" hotel with another location, but was pleasantly surprised. The location of this hotel is right off the main walking street in Venice. The room was clean and had nice amenities - shower water pressure was good, toiletries provided, etc. The only drawback to our room was that it directly opened onto the pedestrian...

The main hotel is actually located on a very narrow pathway. It is kinda spooky/scary especially if it's your first time in Venice. But what really pissed me and my friends was the fact that our room is located on a different building which is around 20-30 minutes away, by walking! There are no cars or motorcycles inside Venice. And...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
