I booked a room at this hotel, well in advance, but was notified 2days before arrival that due to problems I would be lodged in another place. I refused because this hotel was too far away from my point of interest and eventually I was lodged at residenza Ca'Princess. The room has a good size and was very beautiful. The...

At very short-notice we moved from Hotel Rialto (that by the way was lovely on the Grand Canal and so beautifully appointed) and decided to stay a few more days in Venice. Saw this advertised and thought 'why not?' - boy, were we lucky? The owner/receptionist showed us up a flight of stairs to the most beautiful split-level room -...

I'm quite late writing this review as me and boyfriend stayed here 18months ago (not Aug 13 as the review states), but when looking into going again I felt I just had to write a review... This hotel really was ideal for us, it was our first stay in Venice, somewhere I had wanted to go for so many years...

This is our third trip to Venice and our favorite hotel, Le Isole was booked so we tried this place. First of all we initially booked the sister property to this one a short walk down the street from here. When we arrived at the other property the owner was waiting (he had emailed me about our arrival time) He...

We started our tour of Italy in Venice, and chose Residenza La Campana for its location and reviews. While it was the most expensive hotel of the 6 we stayed in, it wasn't bad for Venice! Even though the directions were very good, we had to stop in a shop for directions - right across the street! After lugging our...

Rooms in Venice are expensive. This one is more than I would normally spend but compared to the rest I shopped, a tremendous value. Even so, the facility is clean and well maintained. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean with a large shower. We even had a very nice loft in our room. It gave me a place to go...

Coming from the airport we took the Alilaguna waterbus to Rialto and went down the street of the hotel. It was initially hard to find, just a discreet door on the street, no other hotel signs. Then a couple of steep flights of stairs up to the reception. Our room was right next to the reception desk. The room itself...

Absolutely reccommended to everyone! The room was big, clean, with a modern bathroom and very closed to Rialto and San Marco, so perfect location to go walking around Venice. The staff was really helpful with a lot of suggestions on where to have aperitivi, dinner and local area (not tourist). Breakfast was good too: croissants, eggs, jam, bread, Italian biscuits,...

My wife and I stayed here as the first stop on our tour of Italy and found this B&B to be a fantastic center from which to explore Venice. The room was clean and spacious, bathroom was nicely updated, and the location was perfect- nestled only a few minutes from the Rialto and maybe a 10 minute walk to San...

Our first trip to Venice could not be better. When we arrived Emanuela upgraded us from a double room to an apartment as we were staying 5 nights, what a wonderful surprise! The apartment was right on the canal with the gondolas gliding past all day, very romantic! The apartment and the Residenza La Campana was all very clean and...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
