Hotel Palazzo Vitturi is an old grand palace converted into a lovely friendly boutique hotel. The staff are great, the rooms large, the breakfast fresh and the location central. There is no lift and the stairs are steep, but the staff have a stair lift to transport your luggage to your room. We had a junior suite at the rear...

We arrived into Treviso airport and took the ATVO bus to P.Roma then took a private water taxi to the hotel it cost €60 its definitely the way to arrive in style, the hotel was so helpful before we arrived and as it was our 25th wedding anniversary we upgraded for just €29 per night and was greeted with a...

This is the second time we've been to this hotel and if I am ever lucky enough to come back to Venice, I would love to stay here again. Our room was a lovely, spacious junior family suite. It was the nicest room of our vacation. There was a huge king size bed (made of 2 twin beds, side by...

Dear S L, Anytime a returning guest writes an excellent review about our hotel and its warm staff it's a big pleasure for me, really. I'm so happy you are increasingly happy and satisfied about Palazzo Vitturi and I wait for you for the third time here! Remember, all 'v-care club guests' (direct guests booking in the official website) get...

Stayed here for 2 nights before starting a cruise from Venice. We got a private water taxi from the airport, well worth the expense as it stopped 1 minutes walk away from the hotel. Otherwise it is necessary to drag luggage over narrow bridges and streets from the main taxi stops. All staff at the hotel very friendly and the...

This was our second stay at this hotel, as we were so satisfied with our first experience. It is located in a quiet scenic square, away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco square and the Rialto, but within easy walking distance of both. The rooms have a genuine Venetian style but with modern comforts (e.g. modern bathrooms and...

We stayed for 4 nights in September and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The hotel staff are all so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is within easy reach of all the sites (5 minutes from St. Mark's Square and 7 Minutes from Rialto Bridge). We hired a private water taxi (arranged by...

Stayed for 2 nights in September. This hotel is very centrally located, making it very easy to reach all the major sites, restaurants and shopping within only a short walk. Staff are extremely friendly and very happy to assist. The room was big, a little dated but it's all part of the Venetian vibe. I would definitely stay here again.

After trekking in the Dolomite mountains my friend and I came to Venice for 1 day R & R, and stayed in Pallazzo Vitturi. It has an outstanding location between St Marco and Ospedali - 10 minutes walk from the former. The building must have been a wonderful palace originally, as we had a huge bedroom with tall ceiling overlooking...

I was a bit worried about staying in a 3 star hotel as we normally stay at 4 or 5 star hotels. However with Venice prices during early September this seemed like a good compromise. I am very happy with our choice. The location is excellent-we travelled with a small baby so wanted to be near all the sites- this...

Perfect location and close to all the main sights in Venice. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We had a family room and that was very spacious.. Hotel has a traditional classic Venice look to it. Breakfast was simple and limited however that wouldn't stop me from coming again. The location was just fabulous - quieter area of Venice...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
