I flew into Venice for business and I thoroughly liked the hotel I managed to get. It's very comfortable, the staff are exceptional and I was able to complete my appointments with a professionalism enhanced by the rest I enjoyed at the hotel.

My wife and I chose Hotel Ca’ D’Oro as a result of TripAdvisor reviews and were somewhat disappointed. Remarks by other reviewers that it "felt more of a 4 star" were very misleading. Let's get the facts straight. Location is excellent. Close to everything and with great access to restaurants, bars and all the sights. If you arrive by water...

Just had a weekend in Venice so decided to arrive by boat from the airport. Literally 5 minute stroll from the stop(as advised on the hotel's website). We had a "junior suite" which was delightful. We managed to share some prosecco up on the rooftop as the sun set(was very mild) The staff were very helpful, and there were bars...

I went here with my mum in October. We would both highly recommend this hotel, defiantly felt more of a 4 star. Brilliant location.. close to the grand canal. About a 10 minute walk away from st marks square. Lots of restaurants and shops close by. Good night life if you like going out for a nice meal and a...

Rooms and hotel main areas were spotlessly clean. Excellent Continental Breakfast with plenty of food choices...included fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, eggs, toast, bacon. The staff was pleasant but obviously had made arrangements with one local restaurant, as when we asked for help with reservations there were only ever reservations available there. Wifi was spotty at best. When we asked the...

I look for 4 things from my hotel: comfortable bed, good pillows, good wifi and a good water pressure for my shower. Bonus points for a tea station in the room and a good breakfast. This hotel had all that! The location was between two vaparetto stops so a great location too!

The hotel is small, has character and perfectly located in Carnareggio by the canal. Just minutes to station, very easy to find and a perfect base for my 4 nights in Venice. I love the area, lots of great places to see, local charm and right at the vaporetto stop. Breakfast offers great choice and is plentiful. Coffee is good....

We got off the water bus at the Ca' d'Oro stop and we found the hotel without too much difficulty, although it is tucked away in a narrow street. It is smart, clean and modern inside with very helpful, friendly staff. Our room was on the first floor with windows onto the canal. The room was beautifully decorated with a...

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Their instructions from the water bus stop to the hotel were easy to follow. The area has plenty of local bars, restaurants and shops, e.g. Co-op store just around the corner for supplies. Lovely small hotel away from the madness of central Venice but still within easy walking distance of St marks Square, but...

We loved the convenience of this hotel, the helpful staff, the great breakfast, and the fact that we had such peace and quiet at night to rest after a long flight. There were many restaurants nearby to choose from and it was easy to walk to everything. It wasn't clear from some of the reviews how close this hotel was...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
