I chose this particular hotel because the blurb said it was 5 minutes walk from St Lucia Railway Station which it was. And what a pleasure that it was so easy to find. The hotel's frontage is deceiving and from the outside it looks quite small but inside it is a different story. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist...

We stayed here for one night because it is next to the train station. The room and breakfast were average, but a good value. If you have an early morning train, I would recommend this hotel.

You can't beat the location--just a very short walk from the train station and vaporetto stops to all points in the city. That's a major plus for weary travelers not sure how to navigate Venice's transit system when they first arrive. The hotel is on a busy main drag, but the double-paned windows kept our room very quiet at night,...

Just a few meters from the train statin in Venice. The hotel was an easy walk for our family. The rooms were very clean and both bathrooms were new. Each room had a balcony, but it did not overlook the canel. The Hotel has a glass elevator that the kids loved. The hotel had a great breakfast. Italy is not...

Friends recommended this hotel, we didn't book but walked the 5 minutes to the hotel from the Santa Lucia Train Station on the island of Venice. They had vacancies for €100 a night. The room was ornately beautiful, everything was red and gold – the wallpaper, carpets, curtains, bedspread, sofa. There was a lovely, compact bathroom along a short hallway....

Location very good for anyone needing to be near to the train station - literally a 2 minute walk. Also, very easy to find being on the main street in Cannaregio. Some nice bars and restaurants near by. Service very very friendly - we checked in quite late due to a delayed flight and yet there was still a smile...

Great hotel for a fantastic value. We stayed in May for 80 Euros a night. Very clean room, comfortable bed, quiet, A/C, helpful staff and pretty roomy for a Eurpean hotel. The hotel is just steps from the train station which is very handy if you are coming in with a lot of luggage. The free breakfast was wonderful -...

We stayed in Venice for a long weekend and when we walked into the hotel thought it was beautiful. Then we got to our room... We got the first floor room facing the street which we initially thought was a good room. Then we realized that we had to keep the windows open because they said they dont put the...

Stayed 2 nights at the Belle Epoque and loved it.. got a great deal for 60 euros a night for a double room, it was an attic room (mansarda) definitely one of the cheaper rooms in the hotel but still excellent value, there were no windows with views in the room just a skylight, also one in the bathroom which...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
