It's a hidden B&B in Venice with a bit of history as it was occupied by some ambassador in the past and now is completely restored and renovated. You'll be greeted by a nice scent upon entering. The entire place is air conditioned. The rooms are very big and elegant and the bathroom clean. The owner and her staff were...

Pro: Location. Staff are nice and helped us arranged for airport transportation. Very good wifi signal, probably because our room is very close to the router. Breakfast was good. Con: The rooms are NOT as nice as what they appear on the website. Do not trust the pictures! The building and rooms are much older! The room we stayed was...

We were disappointed with the service - no internet at all - but promised to be there and they were not concerned about it al all. It was one of our decision making points, as we use it to look up where to eat, history etc. Location is nice - central. We were in one of the "not main location"...

Do not book this hotel. We found that the manager was very slow to respond to problems with our stay making it then impossible to resolve. Then showed a complete lack of understanding when finally trying to deal with them. A complete waste of money!

This is a very nice little b&b on the second floor in the Castello district of Venice. I can't speak for all rooms, but I absolutely loved the one we stayed in. It was beautiful (see photo) and had two windows that we could step out to that were right over a canal (not the main canal, so don't worry,...

We stayed 3 nights at San Marco 2-bedroom apartment. Spacious, clean and comfortable. Nice supermarket next door. Nice service from Dorina and warm communication with Marina, the owner. The apartment is not at the main Locanda location, as mentioned in description, but instead in Castello, near San Lorenzo. Also convenient location, 5min. to Piazza S.Marco. You get there no problem,...

My family traveled to Venice in January, 2011. We stayed at the Locanda Ca Del Console. It was the best choice. Our room was gorgeous and very large for the four of us. We had a queen bed and two twins. The furniture was beautiful and unique. The bathroom was amazing.Double sinks, completely renovated, clean, and had all the amenities...

I've stayed at the Locanda Ca' del Console 4 times (twice in 2004 and twice in 2009) and adore the ambience of this ancient Palazzo in the Castello district of Venice. Locanda Ca' del Console is a 5 minute walk to Saint Mark's and about 10 minutes to Rialto and is situated close to Campo Mario Formosa and San Giovanni...

I was recently in Venice with work, a professional dance company on tour. Our rooms had been booked for us by a third-party and when we arrived, the Ca del Console guest house was completely unacceptable for the needs of the company and did not provide any of the amenities we required: -the internet connection was spotty at best and...

The hotel was in a great location for access to Venice and all the main tourist areas. I had researched the location lots before we travelled as many reviews said it was hard to find, and despite 5 different maps and instructions we still walked past it once! probably because there is no sign on the door like you would...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
