Stayed here at the end of September. The hotel has a good location. The breakfast room was a lite small and you may have to wait for a table, the choice was very limited. The room clean. Reception was good at advising of good restaurants in the area. An average hotel but ok for the money.

staff are unbelievably nice, very helpful, gave great review for first time visitors. hotel location is a little rough to get to if you are dragging a bag your wife overstuffed from the vaporetto/bus stop. with that said, once you are there, its central to st. marks or the rialto. no elevator was managed by a very nice employee who...

As a gang of friends, most visiting Venice for the first time, we were made very welcome, helped with our luggage (no lift!!!) Our standard rooms were at the side (one looked out over the back yard) but were comfortable, clean and nicely furnished, though not over the top. Breakfast in small dining room, but room for all. Self service,...

The hotel is in a good location. Very close to St. marks Square. A bit far from where we got off the boat. But there was a porter with a trolley who chatted all the way to the hotel as pulled our luggage along, through alleys and across 4 bridges, for 20 Euros. Excellent service. Very helpful cordial staff. Breakfast...

The reviews suggested it was a good hotel but we were disappointed. The location was good the staff were lovely but the hotel was tired and breakfast was in a squashed dining room. A bit too budget for my liking.

Six friends and I stayed here for 3 nights last month. We all enjoyed our time there, the hotel is in a great location. The staff were very friendly and great to carry our bags up to our rooms as there are no lifts. The rooms are clean with antique furniture exactly what you expect for Venice. The breakfast was...

We (Mother and daughter) have just spent three nights in the hotel. We had a lovely room on the top floor with a balcony which was a bonus. It was quite a climb but worth having the balcony. We found the staff very friendly and willing to help any way they could. There was no problem with our suitcases as...

We spent there only one night. The staff and location was great, the room was ok but it was in the 4th floor without a lift !!??? The breakfast was poor and the dining room is dark and unpleasant. The wifi didn't work in our room, only in the lobby. The price for one night in Venice was fair but...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
