Absolutely great hotel with a lovely atmosphere. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We booked a hotel room with view to the canals, and it was still very quiet. Rooms spacious. The lounge and the apero before dinner was amazing - very thoughtful. Hotel very well situated, close to tram/bus station.

First time in Italy - this hotel was a jewel! Beautifully decorated, comfortable room, wonderful shower, friendly staff, ice-cold air conditioning, great breakfast, free WIFI, lovely garden area, quiet neighborhood. What more can I say - I want to retire here and never leave! Pay the extra bucks and treat yourself to this hotel. Love is in the details and...

The team at Hotel Moresco were a delight, very informative and always willing to offer assistance. The location is perfect as it is near enough to all transport but not in the tourist hot spots. The room was lovely, with a fantastic bed and the breakfast every morning was delicious.

Several people told us not to expect a high quality hotel in Venice because although the hotels are beautiful, they tend to be shabby and run-down because everything is so old, and the wi-fi and air conditioning are often problematic. Not so at Hotel Moresco. The hotel is beautiful and elegant, and everything looks new and perfect. The wi-fi was...

We picked this hotel particularly because we wanted to be away from the manic crowds of Venice tourists and it certainly delivered by being a tranquil oasis midst the human carnage of the city! But, as Venice is so compact, ten minutes walking gets you to most places or to a Voporetti stop and onwards! A modern hotel but filled...

Stayed here for two nights in April following a week long tour of Florence, Venice and Rome. Arrived by train. The hotel is a short 5-10 minute walk away. No problem if you have hand luggage, but if you have suitcases be warned, there is one large bridge to overcome and one or two smaller bridges to get there. On...

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for two nights in august and it was perfect. Firstly the hotel gave detailed directions on how to reach the hotel via different options. We got the bus from the airport then walked and the directions with pictures made it easy to access. when we first arrived we were welcomed very nicely...

This hotel was amazing. The hotel is close enough to walk from the train station- only a ten minute walk. The staff was so helpful and kind. They saw that it was my wife's birthday from her passport and had a cake made. They asked us to sit in the drawing room and brought the cake out while Happy Birthday...

Delightful staff. Location convenient. Hotel has been upgraded beautifully. It is one of the finest hotels we have stayed in in Europe. Very helpful in giving suggestions and directions. Breakfast included which is good but properly served. Has happy hour every evening and since the hotel only has 23 rooms, a chance to compare each day's experiences.

An oasis. The staff is the best - always kind, helpful but not intrusive. The property is pristine, perfectly maintained and the room was beautiful - quiet, with huge bathroom. The location is convenient to the train station and a short walk to the tourist sites - but located in a quiet corner of the city. The included breakfast was...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
