We decided to go to Venice in the Winter - a great idea as not only are the prices much more sensible, there's also much less people around so you're not queuing for everything. The weather was agreeable, about 9 degrees and dry (although I suspect that's a bit lucky). Venice is the most unique and beautiful city I have...

I won't try to Worth mentioning; 1. Staff - they're fully aware of the fact that Venice requires a lot of walking and try to be accommodating as much as possible. After every outing plant yourself at the lounge and staff will come out asking whether you want a coffee and/or a pastry/croissant to which I've never declined. To my...

Wow! There is a reason this place is near the top on trip advisor. We were in Venice during Carnival so even though it was February the city was busy. Staying right off the main tourist would have been noisy so this place being a bit off the main areas was great--quite peaceful. Main sites were a romantic stroll of...

My wife and I read all the rave reviews and expected a very nice place to stay for our first trip to Venice. We just didn't expect the hotel to exceed in every way. Fantastic staff, nice rooms and bathrooms, lovely court yard garden and green space, away from the touristy areas but accessible to everything, terrific breakfast spread, delicious...

My wife and I chose this hotel for our honeymoon and WOW did it exceed our expectations! They staff were so polite and helpful with holding our bags. We only stayed for 2 nights as part of our italian tour but it was perfect. The hotel is small, very charming venetian hotel with excellent service. The staff are all very friendly and offer a wonderful service. Breakfast was great. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a Nespresso machine. A truly excellent hotel with first class service.

I cannot speak highly enough about the Hotel Moresco. My Partner and I were lucky enough to spend a week at the hotel over Valentines this Feb. and from beginning to end it really was fantastic. Firstly we were very lucky to be given the room with it's own balcony, which was so lovely to sit out on, even in...

We are 3 couples meeting here at the Hotel Moresco to begin our European Vacation. The Hotel Moresco was a great place to start from. The Moresco is a little off the beaten path, which was fine with us. With Carnival starting, Venice was exceptionally busy. Staying in the Dorsoduro district was a little less hectic in the evenings after...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
