Couldn't fault this hotel , exceptional service , rooms turn down twice a day , great breakfast .Staff we're very attentive , location great .We got up graded to junior suite. Would certainly return. No negatives , 5 min walk to St Mark's Square and vaporetto.
Located at few footsteps form S.Marco and Rialto, the hotel is easy to reach by foot from the Rialto ferry station. The staff has been very attentive and helpful. The room, we have got one of the suites, was very spacious and modernly furnished with windows overlooking a small canal and the S.Marco tower. Breakfast was very tasty, even if the buffet was not open because of COVID rule, the staff managed quite good the breakfast a la carte. The hotel is surrounded with small souevnir shops and restaurants but the best restaurant we have been in the area was the hotel restaurant "La terrazza".
La bella figura After short “honeymoon”, reality quickly settled in Palace Bonvecchiati is in a good location, close to Canal Grande and its "vaporetti" as well as to Piazza San Marco. Quick, friendly check-in by Ms Francesca who upgraded my reservation to a very nice room with a balcony looking at a bridge, a palazzo with statues on top and to my own Peacock Alley. Then, a gentleman ushered me to my room (nowadays a courtesy only seen in a few five stars hotel) explaining the room features (many) and that there was a housekeeping evening service to prepare the rooms for the night. So far so very good. And that was it: • Bed was not a king-size but two twins put together, to my obvious discomfort; • A housekeeping trolley stand outside my room for the whole stay. I will not describe the disgusting views I had to endure; • Reception was an interesting parade of individuals: from Ms Francesca, to a number of old timers long overdue for retirement who tried to play smart using your comments to answer your questions or simply “played surprised”: “What is going on with your Wi-Fi?” “What Wi-Fi?” “Internet!” “Oh”! “The signal completely brakes in the room! Must be the repeaters?” “Yes, yes, the repeaters. I will have them checked” (to no avail, by the way) “I am getting awful housekeeping!” “Are you?” “Of course! Are you switching maids?” “Yes, yes. That must be the problem. I will have them checked” (again to no avail). Then came Mr Hugo, with a self-confessed story of being a former hippie and more melodramatic than an opera character: nice subterfuges to distract your attention and thus not getting anything solved. Not to forget Mr Nicola, I guess the manager, who was a lot more concerned on my check-out date than on doing something to improve the quality of the housekeeping or the TV signal I was getting (again, to no avail). • In all hotels I ever stayed in Italy, regardless of the way I made my reservation (directly with the hotel, Expedia, Booking, etc.) I always paid the same rate for an extra night. For the first time ever I was overcharged. Nice way to build up loyalty The light at the end of the tunnel, certainly breakfast, both for efficient service and food quality, in charge of a lady from Ferrara with an outstanding vocation for PR. This is Venice, the city where doing “la bella figura” (keeping up the appearances) has been the local sport…., for centuries!…
This hotel was just a short short walk from San Marco as well as other key sights. It was also very close to great restaurants - and I mean non touristy types. We took a water taxi to the hotel from the train station. I recommend prebooking those rather than on the day of arrival. Water taxi ride was beautiful along the way and the hotel has a water taxi door/entrance which is just to the right of the front desk, so it is very convenient. Check in staff was very efficient and nice. I stayed in a Jr Suite which was spacious - plenty of room. Air conditioning was great if you sit right under it. It struggled a little to keep up with the temperatures in early September when it is still hot and humid. The bed was way too firm - i did not sleep well but was there for only a couple nights. The foam pillows however were too hard and I changed those out for feather pillows by requesting from the front desk. You may want to do so as well - the foam was simply too firm along with the mattress. There was a mini safe. Bathroom was decent. The shower door design was a bit odd however. Not only did water flood into the bathroom floor, but the shower itself would fill in the bottom by a few inches of water - it did not drain easily. Toiletries were nice. I chose the plan without breakfast - much better to venture out for a fresh pastry and coffee or whatever you desire in the local neighborhood. There is a temperature sensor for anyone who enters the hotel - one person at a time. Doors do not open if you do not pass the scan. Staff at front desk speaks English. There are at least two elevators to go to upper floors. Housekeeping occurred daily without needing to ask for it. Wifi was good too. Towels were a mixed bag - some thin and scratchy, other thick and soft. Overall a good hotel with a convenient location.…
Palace Bonvecchiati: Its central location and its accessibility from the main arrival places in Venise make this hotel one of the best in the core of this city. Without mentionning the extreme kindness of the personnel, day and night. Rooms are quite large and well maintained
