We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the bus station, just a 5 minute walk. The hotel itself is cosy with a very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast and clean rooms with classic baroque venetian style. Would go there again.

An overall quaint B&B, clean rooms, good breakfast. However some of the staff were put off when we asked for help making a reservations and arranging car service to the airport. We were surprised by this, however I should mention there were other staff members who were very friendly and helpful. The location is in a quiet area, which we...

Light rooms. Great croissants. Nice dog. Big beds. Good location. Friendly and helpful staff. Close to the main bus/ train station. Neighborhood full of not-so-overpriced bars and restaurants. You don’t need much more for a great Venice vacation.

Life is a lot about expectations and after reading the reviews of this hotel, ours were high. We were disappointed but that was because of the expectations. It still is a nice hotel and a decent value, but not one to rave about. First the good points: nice people, always top of the list. Charming ambiance - the entry is...

Lovely hotel. Right in the heart of Venice. Within walking distance of the train station. They had the best breakfast that we had in all of Italy. Rooms were decorated nicely and our windows opened to the courtyard. The only complaint was the steps at the entrance, but we knew about them before booking. Our room had 2 bathrooms, which...

My stay at Palazzo Odoni was absolutely wonderful. We were greeted not only by Alessandro at the front desk but also by the hotel dog, Maffy! Everything about Palazzo Odoni deserves an A+. Palazzo Odoni Location: A+ What a great location in the lagoon. After arriving at Marco Polo Airport, my husband and I took the ATVO bus to Piazzale...

On the expensive side, but professionally managed. It is a 15th century building - but with charm and convenience. Excellent wifi, super breakfast (!!), friendly staff, great / quiet location. You will not regret this choice. Walkable to Piazzale Roma (Train Station / Vaporetto Stop). Note: the hotel does not have an elevator (15th century building!), and it is 50...

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at Palazzo Odoni. The room was immaculate and just as advertised. The morning breakfast spread was lovely with your choice of thinly sliced meats, breads, six types of cheeses, fresh fruit, eggs, three kinds of yogurt, cereal, dried fruits and nuts, granola, jams and honeys, juices, cappuccino and espresso, and croissant bigger...

This hotel was the best we've stayed in Italy. I think it doesn't have any single flaw, it's totally perfect. Good location, very old palazzo, very nice and hospitable staff, stunning patio. Great breakfasts with nice variety of dishes. I definitely can't remember any flaw. As I understand this hotel belongs to one family for several generations. Also when we...

The first impression was like you are entering into a fairy tale! Really charming place with genuine Venetian atmosphere. Very close to Piazzale Roma (3 – 5 minutes walking distance); yet, very quiet area. The Scuola Grande di San Rocco and Frari church are also nearby – both are amazing and not to be missed. The room was spacious and...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
