Last week was our honey moon, so we chose Venice to spend 3 nights. We chose Palazzo di Guardi because of it's excellent location and picture of good rooms, we didn't look at price, so let's say we paid "well"! A friend of ours knowing where we were going to stay called the hotel without us knowing and told them...

Lovely hotel, beautiful room with canal view. Staff very friendly, especially Silvano - pictured below, he could not have been more helpful and charming. Restaurants all locally great and the food was so fresh and delicious! Would love to return again one day.

We stayed here 11th - 14th march 2017. Great location that is very easy to get to from both Rezzonico and Zattere Vaperetto stops. We had the suite overlooking the Canal in the Annex (Arsenale) and found it to be very well laid out and perfect for our needs. Breakfast was served very close to the room ( a few...

This is a fantastic option if you are just looking for a B&B rather than a hotel. It's in a great location within walking distance to all main attractions, St Marks Square 10 mins, Rialto 15 mins the Accademia is only 5 mins. Be aware when booking this B&B has two parts to it, the main part is down a...

Our 2 requirements for travel are convenience and "Old World" charm. Both were met by the Palazzo Guardi in the Dorsoduro area of Venice. Coming from the front of the Accademia Museum one walks along the right side of the building about 50 yards to the calle del Pistor, a tiny narrow alley. About half way down is the door...

I knew Venice would be expensive, but I dreamed of having a lovely room overlooking a quiet canal. Something romantic, and a little old world. Breakfast would be a plus. So, after extensive research, I found this hotel. It was everything I wanted, and more. I paid extra for a canal view and it was so worth it. We had...

Stayed in the Palazzo Guarde for three nights while visiting Venice to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We were very impressed with this hotel and thought it was well situated in a quiet residential area. The service was great and room was large with beautiful features. Continental breakfast was tasty and staff were friendly, we would not hesitate to stay...

Key points: - Good location - Breakfast buffet - Room service - Reception (for our room) was 3mins walk away. - No English speaking TV channels - Free wifi - Do not forget "City Tax" needs to be paid in cash just before you leave (I think we paid 24 euro for 3 nights stay for the 4 star hotel/B&B)....

We loved this place. A clean spacious room straight off the lobby/breakfast area (odd but ok). It is quiet, staff are polite and efficient. The tiny lift is strange - you have to keep your finger in the button the whole journey! Breakfast was good incl a hot choice (excellent for continental breakfast). You can order cappuccino etc with breakfast...

We appreciate the person at the reception, when we arrived , for switching our room to the main building 3rd floor, to use elevator for our luggage. She was extra nice and very friendly . The hotel is very clean , close to good spots ,we used the reception again to get on a tour and around the area ....

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
