We loved our 2 night stay and wish we had had longer.... Venice is a beautiful city and if we get back there I would be happy to stay at Hotel Villa Rosa.... it's a small, cheerful and good value, it's not fancy, but it's ckean, tidy and has everything you need.

This is a reasonably priced hotel with easy access to train station and water taxi. If you arrive by train, you will be pleased with its location, not needing to drag your luggage on the cobblestone street and bridges. Staff is very friendly. Our room is modern, looks like recently renovated. There is no elevator and stairway is narrow. We...

This hotel is a gem. The rooms are lovely, really modern and nicely furnished and extremely clean. The bathroom is very modern too. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and they let us use one of the tables in the breakfast room to play cards in the evening with the friends we were traveling with. The hotel is...

The Hotel was easy to find and close to the train station. The staff went above and beyond to help us. Even walking me and showing to the water taxi pick up point after he finished work. The breakfast was well catered.

Kind of difficult to find the "street" to the hotel. It is a very narrow walkway and because we didn't see a sign on the building, we walked past it twice before getting exact directions. Very quiet because it is away from the busy street but yet really close to the train station and less than 1/2 mile from Piazzale...

The hotel is a short distance from the train station and a great base to explore Venice. The receptionists were first class as was the continental breakfast included in the price of the room. A very well run hotel which provides great value form money. The lighting in our room (no.36) was dim and the dark decor made it quite...

Hotel staff were very accomodating and well trained. Although this hotel is kinda hidden in an alley, the people there will be able to guide guests there. Breakfast is good. Bed was perfect. Toilets well maintained . We managed to get the ground floor as we were carrying two big bags and they did not have a elevator. No complaints...

Where do I begin. As stated in other reviews " you get what you pay for". This is a 2 star hotel and that's it. Fairly easy to find; second alley way from the train station. Front lobby was very quaint, but that's where it stops. I was on the third floor in room 37. Double room for single. I...

We used public transportation on a trip to Italy, and this was an ideal hotel for us. It is on a quiet back street about two blocks from the train station, with a wonderful staff, a great breakfast, and a very clean facility. Our room was small, but then we chose to go on a limited budget. We had everything...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
