we stayed in a room with 1 double bed and private bathroom on 10-12 July. Room was really clean but really really small. If you pay this prive you only get this size of room I suppose. There was no proper cabin in the shower, just curtain. That made the bathroom splashy. Also the window of the room is small...

The room was clean and the staff were charming and most helpful. However, the mini bar did not work, the table lamp had no socket and therefore did not work, the shower head was at waist height and therefore only usable by a small child and room looked tired.

Stayed for a couple of nights in a suite, what you would expect to be a best room....but it was very disappointing. Facing construction, need urgent update, safe wasn't working, tv just Italian channels. Breakfast was very poor, not a big choice. Way too much money to pay for a very dated hotel. Would I stay here again....definitely no.

we have booked in the hotel San Maurizio based on the photos that are on website, rooms are different in reality. You see something on website different to what you get. And when we asked they said hotel san maurizio and residence san maurizio are two different hotels but in fact it is the same hotel different floors. We were...

It is the worst hotel we've ever tried, photos on the website are completely different than the real rooms, there are 2 different hotels and on the website it is not mentioned so we were shocked, only the location of the hotel is good it is in the centre of venice

Stayed in the hostel part of the hotel and was super impressed. Slightly dated but warm and comfortable, due to being there off season we were the only ones on our floor so had all three bathrooms to ourselves. Hotel staff were super helpful, letting us store our bags on the day we left and lending us a phone charger.

Even for Venice standards this hotel was a big let down. Although the room was of a good size, the access to the room was very difficult through narrow stairs without any lifts. Wifi is sporadic at best. The entrance to the hotel is very disappointing. Was woken up at 07:57 by the noise of intense drilling and construction work...

I was very sceptical about this hotel after reading certain reviews on here but it is a typical traditional Venice hotel. Not easy to find but nothing is in Venice! Very pleasant staff very attentive. Really good location. Small rooms and did see a few lizards in the lobby but they were tiny and nothing to worry about. Ignore the...

On a budget? Pay 10€ more and get another room somewhere else. Don't get me wrong, we had the essentials: bed, shower, wifi. But that's it. Room below average, bathrooms are shared and messy and there was no ac. For 90€, we were hoping for a little more. On the upside we were able to leave our bags there for...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
