Pros: well-located, near S. Marcuola-Casino' DX vaporetto station. Cons: 1) not well maintained, with scuff marks all over the wall. 2) Bed was not as comfortable 3) toilet shower was so small u could barely move 4)air-conditioning not well functioning, sometimes warm air coming out Overall, worst accommodation during my entire europe trip.

We stood there for 4 nights. The hotel is well located at 10-15 minutes walking distance from Plaza San Marcos and main attractions.the hotel ia ok but the rooms were dirty (I found forgotten items under the bed) and the service could be better. We asked for guidance to go to Murano and the advice for the front desk crew...

Hotel La Forcola is presented very nice on website, reality isn´t so correct. Address of hotel is wrong, we had a problem find right street, in Venice are two hotels with the same name, we had to ask in a shop for a help, because a receptionist could tell us where they are. We were dissapointed about his comunnication with...

I spent only one night at La Forcola. The hotel location is great. The room (103) was ok for me, but I think a couple would need a little bit more space. Bed is ok. Shower is good but again, very limited space for showering, so if you are overweight you might not enjoy the shower too much. Breakfast is...

The hotel is nice and simple. It's right on the canal, so you hear noise throughout the night. The room is sufficient and has all the necessities. The A/C did not work so well, I tried sleeping with the windows open. Not possible with noise level! The hotel is on the main road, Nueva Strada (if I remember correctly) &...

Nice hotel in a good location. Very walkable to the vaporetto stop and only ten minutes from St Marks Square. Rooms are basic but comfortable. Shower is exceptionally small but that would be my only negative. Close to many restaurants and shops.

Great location off a side street. We felt safe, it wasn't loud, we had a great view and we were within walking distance of everywhere we went. It wasn't far from where the water taxi drops off. Staff was helpful in offering maps and advice. The only negative consistent reviews we saw for forcola was the lack of a proper...

The hotel is in walking distance to the Venice's train station. Travel tip: If you arrive by using the train to Venice, choose a hotel near the train station, carrying the luggage might be very difficult because of the bridges. And the ferry ride is really costly 7 euro for one time. So the location is good, you could also...

Very tiny rooms. Standing shower with a curtain is about 3' x 3'. Hardly any space to keep your luggage. Horrible breakfast. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Can take the Alilaguna boat very close to the hotel from the airport for 15 euros.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
