I stayed in the hotel from 11 to 15 March 2016. My original plan was to stay near the centre but by shopping around I came across the La Forcola and saved myself some money because of it. Arriving by train you have a roughly 10 - 15 minute walk from the station. It's not that far at all and...

Hotel is basic and run down Offers no hotel facilities is more like B&B Breakfast is poor. En suite was awful. Superior room with "canal view" we had was side facing on to another building I had to stand on a chair and lean out of window to see canal. Over priced - can't imagine what a standard room is...

Helpful staff, good English speaking, clean throughout, good selection of continental breakfast items - fresh ground coffee, rooms need some maintenance but very clean and tidy, efficient elevator...proud to be the first Maltese couple at the hotel :) Will visit again.

PROS: location (you can't really go wrong in Venice), views of a canal, and bed (comfortable). Young woman at reception was generally nice and helpful. CONS: breakfast was awful, no variety and nothing was fresh, not even a piece of fruit; fruit salad out of a tin, cheap juice tasted like tang, a dry cake... only safe option was yoghurt;...

It's a very basic hotel with a convenient location on the main "street" in Cannaregio. Easy to find and somewhat comfortable. September has crazy prices in the city, specially during the weekend, so don't be surprised if you pay EUR200-EUR250 a night on one of these 3* hotels. I ended up having a triple room, with a third single bed,...

Very pleasant, helpful staff. Comfortable, attractive room. Has an elevator and air conditioning. Good location in the center of the Cannaregio main drag. Stay includes continental breakfast. Windows in my room looked out over a canal. My friend paid four times as much for a room in a fancier Venice neighborhood, and she didn't have as nice a room. La...

The best thing about this hotel is the location in the heart of Venice. The hotel is basic. Rooms are small. Staff is friendly but a bit tired. Extremely overpriced like most hotels in the middle of old Venice. If you have decided to stay in the old part is this a fairly good choice, but if you accept to...

we stayed there for 2 nights, and we enjoyed our family moment there. The hotel was simple but nice. It is near the train station and was easy to find. We are happy there in Venice. Although it is a bit pricy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Venice and Hotel La Forcola was a lovely supplement to the time there. The room was renovated with exceptionally good air conditioning which was required in the 40 degree heat after a long day of walking. The wifi actually worked in the room and the breakfast was above standard. The hotel was walking distance...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
