Lovely stay in Venice. Room was a little narrow but it didn’t matter too much as we only slept there. We will miss opening the window onto streets and feeling that lovely fresh air every morning. The reception and breakfast is round in their sister...More

How lucky were we to stay where we did and when we did. we booked the hotel after reading all the great reviews about the breakfast. All true, every morning we enjoyed it so much that we were glad a lot of walking was involved...More
Cute little place very close to San Marco place in the center of Venice. We were placed in a very quiet and comfortable rooms with bath tube. Additionally, the breakfast was very complete (wine included!) and had very high quality.
We were pleasantly surprised by Hotel Anastasia. It's a small hotel and from the price we expected something more stark. Our room was the premium double which is definitely bigger than the economy room. Clean and Roomier than expected. Free Wifi worked great. In fact,...More
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

We used Alliguna also for the transfer from the airport. It worked well and we enjoyed the transfer even though it is around a good hour plus due to the other stops. Once you get off a St Mark's it is just a matter of turning left and up the main shopping street you cannot go past it! Up at the top turn left over another bridge and you will see a Gondola station on your left with a number of hotels one i think the Viola which is the sister hotel to the Anastasia and where you eat breakfast. Just head in underneath and round to your right which will take you into a Square with the Anastasia on your right. You do need to hit the buzzer and someome from the Viola will come round to you for checkin.

Hi Kent, unfortunately you should be prepared for all transport in Venice to be expensive. We used the Alilaguna water taxi service which is probably more of a shuttle or bus service (it's not a private water taxi). The cost of this was 15 euros per person. I think the cost for private water taxis can be as around 100 - 200 euros so it's definitely a cheaper option.
It won't let me post a website link in this message but if you google Alilaguna it's the first link that comes up. It is best to get the Blue Line (Linea Blu) from the airport which leaves every 15 mins. There is no need to pre book and you can purchase tickets when you get to the airport. We got ours from a counter in the baggage claim area, but there are also machines around the airport. The website has instructions for how to walk from the airport terminal down to the departure point (it took us about 8-10mins to walk). You should then take the boat to the San Marco stop which is the closest stop to the hotel. From there, the hotel is only a couple of minutes walk. Make sure you have a map up on your phone or hard copy though, as the short walk involves a couple of turns down small alley ways (as do all Venice's walks).
Also, be prepared for a long boat ride. I think it took us about an hour and 20mins to get to the San Marco stop.
Hope that helps!
