The Palazzo Selvadego is associated with the Hotel Monaco property, and is just down the street from that hotel. My room was on the first floor, just above street level. I was initially concerned about street noise, but the room was surprisingly quiet - with the windows closed, which wasn't a problem. The room was spacious with lots of closet...

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

Best possible location, half a block from St Mark's and 5 min walk to a vaporetto stop. Beautifully restored historic building with 24/7 Concierges who gave us excellent advice about restaurants and a concert within walking distance. Could not have been cleaner or more tastefully decorated. Breakfasts on the Grand Canal were what we wrote home about: full buffet, white-jacketed...

My wife and I stayed here while vacationing in Venice this past April. The location is nearly 100-steps from San Marco, and just a few minutes away from other notable attractions like the Rialto Bridge and the Opera House. While this was great for some of our more notable activities—it certainly became crowded after 9AM almost every day. The room...

I'm afraid to write a glowing review as this place will be overrun. The hotel is lovely from the front desk to the quiet sleep to the amazing location. Okay, so my sister and I had a room which was facing a courtyard but it was quiet and sunny. The staff was amazing. They made us feel welcome. The sheets...

This hotel is attached to the "Monaco and Grand Canal" where you'll need to check in and out and where you can have breakfast. Comfort is good and corresponds to an average 3 stars level with a few details of a 4 stars. At 160 euros a night in BnB, it is good value for money for the very heart...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
