I booked for the wrong date and they took care of me. They went above and beyond after my mistake. The location is great, easy walk to everything. They booked tours for us and recommended great places in the area. Can't say enough good things about Ca del Dose.

Location was good - 3 min walk from Arsenale station, staff gave good advice on getting to and from the airport easily. Room was small but good enough for a couple of days. Our stay was really tainted by our check out - we informed the staff the day before that we had a train to catch and needed to...

Excellent location with helpful staff when they are on site. Room was comfortable and typical of two star European hotels (no lift, small shower, etc.). Was very surprised when I was quoted rate in EURO but the charge to my CC was in dollars at an inflated rate (about 4% over bank rate). I would stay there again but would...

I wanted to pay in EUR but the machine processed it in sterling without giving me an option, or asking for a PIN. To make matters worse, the slip had a rubric, which I refused to sign, saying that I had been offered a choice of currencies -NOT TRUE - and said that I had accepted the conversion rate, which...

Useful if you just want to browse facebook or make plans for the next day but cannot stream videos at all. Shower...

Great location, central, welcoming owners, helpful with a lot of info. Rooms were great, clean, terrace, bathroom inside. We received a lot of details regarding location and how to reach from the airport.

The street is small and the hotel/b&b/motel/whatever is unassuming, so it's easy to miss. The rooms we were given were actually around the corner from the hotel's reception. I think there are also residential apartments in the same building. When we arrived, the woman was very nice and showed us to our rooms (her English was limiting but so was...

Wonderful small hotel with location, location, location. Easy access from train station on regular taxi-boat service. Located 1/2 block down alley from Grand Canal and 2 bridges from Doge's Palace. Easy walking distance to same. In fact, good walking distance to all of main part of Venice. Good-natured, helpful owner-manager. Good restaurant recommendations. He also has apartments if you are...

This hotel is so close to everything that matters in Venice! A few minutes walk from San Marco square and even less from the Arsenale water taxi stop. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable, the shower and bathroom are well equipped with all the essentials. There is a small refrigerator and TV...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
