My family of 2 teenagers, my wife and I stayed at the Locanda Barbarigo just over a week ago. The location is OUTSTANDING... We arrived via cruise ship and walked over to Piazzale Roma where we caught a vaporetto to the St Maria Giglio stop....the ride was 5 euro including bags...From the stop it was an easy 5 min walk...

We are a couple who stayed there in May and had a wonderful stay. We are in love with LB. We chose LB because located in an ancient ( more correct historical) Venetian Palace where you can breathe the atmosphere of the Doges' period. The entrance is dark because there is a "Sotoportego" something like a cover passage, typically Venetian,...

I chose Locanda Barbarigo based on what i read here. I dont understand why people are so in love with this place!! We were very disappoointed. When we pulled up out the front of this ' hotel ' i couldnt believe the driver had the right address. The entrance is dark and dingy and we were uncomfortable at first to...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights and since we were a bit skeptical booking rooms online in a place we've never been before, the Locanda exceeded our expectations. It was in a very nice quaint location adjacent to this small canal, which our room looked out to. It's just a few minutes walk to St. Mark's Square,...

We booked Locanda Barbarigo for the second time and they gave us a room at their annex .It was an unespected gem.Our room had the view on a Ventian Campo(San Maurizio Square) wich was really charming. The location is perfect just between the Accademia Bridge and St Mark's Square. Ask for a junior suite it well worth whatever extra it...

Stayed here for two nights in Oct of this year. This is a great little find. Grand views over a canal. Excellent location and really friendly staff. Would recommend a room called 'Rosaura' where you will have a large room that looks out onto a small canal. Will go back here

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
