It's a small but nice hotel not too far from the train station. Staff were friendly and helpful. The layout of the hotel was not amazing with dining and reception in the centre and all the rooms around the dining area. Small selection of breakfast and shorter period for breakfast from 7:45-9:30am, guess it is to cater smaller number of... More

The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was clean and nice. We only stayed one night before departing on a cruise, but we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was very nice as well. Beds are very firm. It's a good choice in Venice.

Very nice place, great location, everything is on walking distance. Very hostile guy, he gave us a map of the city and explained everything we needed for sightseeing, food, etc. We highly recommend this place!

We stayed at the Locanda San'Agostin in September and loved it! At first we were concerned that we weren't on the Grand Canal but we ending up really liking the location on a side canal by a cute landing. We could easily walk to anywhere we wanted and felt like we were in the real Venezia! The room was quiet... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in September. The hotel is located in a more quiet area surrounded by great restaurants and shops but away from the crowds. We enjoyed the location. It's about a 15 min walk from the train station if you know where you're going. Otherwise, maybe it's a 20 min walk. Venice is a labyrinth so... More

We stayed here mid September, great spot within walking distance of all the main sights. Hotel was on one floor only, traditional Venetian rooms, very helpful reception and decent continental breakfast

Nice, clean hotel. Good location. Walking distance to all main attractions. Check-in staff were very friendly and helpful. Called for a porter back to train station. Room just as the pictures on website. Breakfast was ok, cold breakfast.

I cannot praise this hotel enough. It's not the biggest... it's not the most modern... but what it lacks is more than made up for by the helpfulness of the staff, the location, and the fact that you're going to be staying in a 15th Century venetian mansion. The staff are simply brilliant. I called reception two days before arriving... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Locanda Sant'Agostin is located in the geographical center of the city at just 5-10 minutes walk from every interest point; from here it is not necesary to take the expensive waterbus: an easy walk bring you everywhere. The Locanda is situated in an authentic, lively district that is home totypical trattorias, traditional "bacari", well-known restaurants, goldsmiths' workshops, wine bars and artisan's workshops. This district is flanked by several cafes and typical "bacari", which serve the traditional "Spritz" aperitif. The elegant Locanda Sant'Agostin is located in the rooms of the Piano Nobile of a Sixteenth Century patrician palazzo, and is the result of careful restoration work. Finesse and intimacy can be seen in every detail: the parquet flooring with its warm colours, the Murano glass, the stucco cornices and the leaded glass.Staying in one of Venice's Locanda means choosing an intimate and friendly ambience, without compromising on style. ... more   less
