Very unfriendly staff for the price we payed the room was terrible, shower had 3" of standing water. Rooms smelled but could be from canal?? Will not come back and I don't recommend. When I told staff at check out (stayed 1night) about shower drain and I was going to put it on trip advisor she asked why I didn't...

Had a family room with views of a small canal. The room itself was a little dated and seemed like it used to be an apartment as it had a stove which we were not allowed to use. The rooms were quite big for Venice and the bathroom was the same. I believe the family rooms are more comparable to...

When we arrived at the hotel and our reservation was not there. We booked thru Delta vacations and had been at 2other locations so we knew it wasn't the booking. The staff worked to get it straighten out taking a little less than an hour . We put our suitcases in the room and went out to get some food....

The hotel is located about a 1 minute walk from St Mark's Square. It is an interesting old hotel that actually is in more than one building. Part of the hotel (the towers) is actually across a small canal from the rest of the hotel where the lobby is. There is an indoor bridge to get across, so you might...

Rooms: We had trouble finding space for our two suitcases. Bed is standing next to a wall. I personally have never seen that before in a hotel! Tiny sink in teh bedroom - why? Overall very run down and downright depressing. Bathroom: is maaaaybe two and a half foot wide. If you are not a small person, beware as you...

This is definatly a 4 star hotel. Slight signs of age and loud cleaners in the morning but this is the only fault! The staff were polite and happily made our dinner reservations; the hotel offered a complimentary trip to murano at very short notice and advertised local theatre productions which were very cheap and we are informed this is...

We were pleasantly surprised and pleased with our stay at this hotel. Good sized room. Friendly staff. Great location, right outside of San Marco Square. Great breakfast included. All around a wonderful experience!

We travelled here in October 2014. The location is great, right of st.marks square... but the cold breakfast very poor and the size of the rooms extremely tiny.... we were out of the room most of the times which was the best... even fitting 2 suitcases in the room was struggle...

The only reason this hotel deserves a single star is due to its location otherwise it should be given a zero. Room sizes are big (It's supposed to be an all suites hotel) and that's all what you get. There are no amenities. Forget about tea coffee maker, this is the first hotel where they don't even provide cups or...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
