Take a water bus from Pl Roma number 2 to Rialto get of at stop after Rialto Bridge. Walk back to the foot of the bridge and turn right till reach a square with a statue to your left. Turn left and keep going straight out of the square cross over the bridge and look for the Bata shoe shop...

Had to wait for 5 min for the staff to attend but she is very friendly, helpful and super informative especially with the explanation on routes, places of interest and transport services. Free map is provided! Opted for room with private bathroom - worth every penny! It is very clean, comfortable and quiet. Great location- 2 min to Rialto bridge,...

Just a couple of minutes walk from the Rialto makes the location perfect for a short stay. Everything is easy to get to. Our room overlooked the Grisostomo with an enclosed balcony so we could watch the passers by without too much noise. The room was very spacious and the decor very Venetian. Perfect.

Everything about the stay was pretty good. Relatively comfortable rooms, nice staff, and the location is about halfway between the train and the major sites in Venice. Solid place to stay but a bit overpriced. The rooms are right in a busy street so it got noisy at night. Additionally, the bathrooms were particularly busy and it was difficult sharing...

My family and i stayed here for our March 2016 visit to Venice. Overall, we had a very nice stay. Our room was spacious with comfortable beds, and our bathroom was very clean. The one girl we saw who worked there was very helpful, as she provided us a with a map of the city, and information about how to...

Positives: - Perfect location, just 5min walk from Rialto bridge - There's even small breakfast (coffee, juice + croissant) included in the restaurant by the Grand Canale. As it came unexpected, it's definitely a "+" - Room per 4 was spacious and nice - Staff was nice and helpful, though they didn't spean much English at all - Price/location ratio...

My wife and I recently stayed at Residenza Grisostomo. Rooms were very well maintained and clean. It is at a great location for the Rialto Bridge on the grand canal, but far enough off the main street to provide a reasonably quite night. All in all, a very good place to stay for the price. But do consider bringing a...

We stayed here for two days and liked it for the price we spent. We did some extensive research on Venice hotels/motels for early April, and this was one of the most affordable places in respect to its close proximity to central Venice, Realto bridge and central canal. It is, however, a quite hard place to find situated between typical...

Amazing location! Not only close to the Rialto Bridge but only 10 minute walk away from St Mark's Square, also very close to the water bus stop. Fantastic price as well, extremely cheap compared to anywhere else in the centre of Venice! Room was a good size, really comfy bed! No air con but the room came with a powerful...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

“Easy to find- follow the Carneggio main route and look for BATA store on the right, there is a small alley leading to the hotel.”
Dcafehopper, 12 Sep 2016 | Read review
“The entry is not on the Grisostomo it is down a narrow alley towards the Grand Canal. Not that you go as far as the end, but at the end of the alleyway is a little view across the canal to the small piazza on the other side. Perfect for a take away pizza and gelato dinner, if you like that sort of thing.”
