in a very expensive city like venice this is a good option, the location is very convenient and easy to find! obviously dont expect any kind of luxury for the price you pay. we booked a double room with shared bathroom and we got a complentary upgrade to an ensuite double bedroom! which it was a nice start in venice, yeah the bedroom was tiny but was clean that is enough for us, as we didnt travel to venice to stay in the hotel. if you want to save some money in ur accomodation to spend in you shopping then this is an ideal option, if you want a new nice big room stay away from here but you will have to pay quite lot more.
Very convenient location when arriving by train. We arrived after a cruise, took the new "People Mover" (cost 1 Euro) to Piazale Roma and then an easy 10 minute walk to the hotel. Our double room was on the 4th floor facing street. Very noisy all night long. Room itself was a little worn and in need of a redo. Bathroom was adequate. Did leave early the next morning so no breakfast but with a few bug bites. As far as recommending the hotel to friends, I'd really say it depended on which friends and the time of year they would be visiting.
We stayed at the Zecchini because it was very close to the train station and the ferry terminal. Had to check in at a neighbouring hotel because the Zecchini was unattended - also had to breakfast next door because the Zecchini did not offer any dining facilities. Reception was efficient enough, but without a smile or any friendliness. We were given a very large room on the first floor with a very modern en suite bathroom - in fact the whole hotel looked as though it had been refurbished quite recently. The breakfast next door, although adequate, was poor with little choice and uninteresting food. you cannot pay by credit card, it was cash only because the "communications link was down"; judging by the litter around the equipment, we suspect this is a pretty standard excuse to stop taking credit cards. Overall the hotel represents good value for money, for Venice.…
2 nights in September 2010 Pros V.close to the station, less than 100m to your left. You don’t really want to be dragging luggage around Venice. Vaperotto to San Macro takes about 45-60mins, but very easy to take. Value for money. Less than 100AUD per night (booked in advance). Shared bathroom is in good condition, does not appear to have many rooms sharing (2-3 max?). Have not had to wait for bathroom. Sink in room and personal airconditioning very good. TV had BBC world and Eurosport in English – very suprising. Cons No lift – have to carry bags up stairs. We were on the 4th floor and had large luggage so it was a little difficult but we managed. - I knew beforehand that there was no lift via tripadvisor. No minibar and tea/coffee facilities (not to be expected from 2 star hotel though). Overall, in a very expensive city, the hotel was a bargain. No frills but good enough for the 2 nights and excellent location. No many supermarkets that are easily located. There is one along the main road which leads from the train station east (over about 2 bridges - 10min walk) and one in the northern regions of Sante Croce - cross the bridge from the train station and first left - about 5 min walk in general direction. Good value for money small pizza shop down the main road outside train station eastward - cross 1 bridge (where there are fruit/veg market stores in the centre of the road). 2.50-3.50EURO/slice.…
Dirty rooms, stinky and hot. Rooms with air conditioning but they said it is only available in July!!! Ridiculous excuse. I was not able to sleep due to the incredible number of Mosquitos in my room at night. To make things even worse they don't have Internet signal, not even paid. Probably to prevent us from reviewing them on trip advisor.
