Price was right, location even better, just a few short blocks from Piazza San Marco. Our room for 3 was plain, but we were only there for sleeping, so served its purpose. Breakfasts were ample, saving us pricier lunch choices while out sightseeing. Friendly staff.

We stayed here at the end of April 2016 and we couldn't have asked for a better stay, It was easy to find (we used google maps as Venice is full of little streets) and we were very impressed with our room. We had an ensuite which we didn't expect and there was a little area to go and sit...

Lovely welcome and the location is perfect. Four minutes from St Marks Square. The rooms are basic but clean. Breakfast continental but plenty of it. Helpful staff and a wonderful canal view from room one. Beware of mosquitos because of canal side location. Would definitely stay there again.

I wanted a budget centrall place in Venezia for my 2 nights stay on my own. The location was far better than expected, the bathroom outside the room was new, and the shabby taste of the 80' s in the room and the rest as presented at the site, and expected. Nice staff, good breakfast for Italy (and me, but...

We visited Venice in September 2015 and booked the hotel for 2 nights. It was a perfect place to stay, near all the city's attractions. Walking distance to the Piazza San Marco, Bridge of Sighs and Doge's Palace. Lots and lots of places for both casual and fine dining. Our breakfast was included in the price. It was not a...

This hotel was perfect for the one night that we stayed in Venice. I reserved a double and as you can see by the pictures we got four twins. The room was very small by any standard but the room and bathroom were very clean. I had read on previous reviews that there was an issue with towels but we...

The location is very good, breakfast lady was very helpful, we checked in late (5pm) and they were ok with it. Breakfast is also nice. They let us leave our luggage for few more hours after we checked out. Room is not very nice, but good for what we paid (compared to other hotels). One of the toilets were in...

Down a side canal away from the crowds, but within 400m of St Mark's. A budget hotel by Venice standards and should be judged on that basis, but we found it comfortable, friendly and convenient, with helpful staff.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
