There is just few minites walk to vaporetto station, Piazza San Marco and many more interesting place. I was very satisfied because the hotel accepted my request for my room with canal view even it was bit tiny. And The staff are all very friendly so I didn't feel lonely or bored alone.

My husband and I had a nice one night stay here. Our room had an "old world" feel to it with a giant wood dresser and upholstered walls. It also had beautiful views of the church across the street. I was impressed with the service too. We brought our dog on our trip to Italy and this was the only...

We returned 5 years after our first visit and I am pleased to say that this lovely little hotel is even better. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, from booking Vivaldi concert tickets to restaurant advice. We had a good breakfast every day and thankfully they don't do the "Full English". The décor...

We had the pleasure of spending 3 nights in this lovely hotel in July 2015. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the room was fairly compact and very olde worlde as befits the ancient city. The wall covering in the room was a padded damask material and of course we had a Murano glass chandelier! The breakfasts, (which we...

This is the best hotel experience we had in Italy. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. Walking distance to San Marco, nice restaurant and shops. Close to ferry stop. Just a wonderful place to stay in Venice. P.s. Don't miss the breakfast!

This was my second stay at this hotel. After the first time there was no consideration of another. The location was my main draw - just off the Giglio Vaporetta stop and a 3 minute walk to San Marco Square. The hotel has a lovely outdoor seating area where one can take breakfast or just sit and watch the passersby....

We stayed there 2 nights. The room is ofcourse small which is a typical size in venice. The breakfast was very good, the fresh pastry was well prepared everyday. There were many choices of jams, hobey and cheese and few types of bread. The staffs were friendly and nice in giving directions to where to visit and where to go....

This is a very nice hotel, beautifully decorated in a Baroque style. It's really easy to get to from the airport and requires just one boat, the Alilaguna Arancia line to the Santa Maria del Giglio stop, which cost €15 per person (€16 if you buy onboard) and is way cheaper than a private taxi boat. The hotel is located...

This was our first visit to Venice and we could not have been happier with our choice of Hotel Bel Sito! The location to the public water bus was excellent. Step off the bus at the Santa Maria Giglio stop, walk up a narrow alley into a little square & far right corner is Hotel Bel Sito! There is a...

I had booked a smaller room without noticing, but I was able to upgrade the room with no problem. The rooms are not luxurious but very clean, with wifi and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is located near shops, restaurants and Plaza San Marcos. When returning to Venice, we will be staying here again.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
