This small well run boutique hotel is tucked in just around the corner from San Zazhirara. We paid extra for a 3rd floor terrace room and enjoyed the view of the church and watching the local life in the square. The value is its location Two blocks up from the Valparetto stop and one bridge from St Marks. Small bar next door and three places to eat across the way in front .Ample Euro type breakfast. The shower is very small, my wife took sponge baths, but we would happily stay here again.
The location is perfect, just few minutes walk from San Marco and San Zaccaria vaporetto station, but still in a less crowded, and very beautiful neighborhood. Gabriele and all the staff from reception made us feel like family. Thank you guys for that! The hotel is clean and the beds comfortable. For Venetian standards it is a very good option and reasonable priced especially considering the outstanding central location.
The hotel goes above & beyond. The location is insane 2 minutes from San Marco. The staff are so friendly & helpful. It is a family hotel. Spotlessly clean. Bed was so comfortable, we overslept. I cannot recommend the hotel enough. We felt so at home and comfotable.
Excellent central hotel, less than a 5 minute walk to St Mark’s Square. Rooms are very clean & beds comfortable. Good continental breakfast, bar & very helpful staff. Restaurants Opposite good. You couldn’t do better for exploring Venice!
I stayed here in May 2019 but just posting this now. It’s so hard to find a reasonably priced hotel in Venice that checks all the boxes. While this hotel was recommended by Rick Steves, Rick clearly got this one wrong. The disgusting, mildewy-smelling sheets and pillow and terrible tub/shower with no door or curtain were dealbreakers for me. It basically ruined what was the most amazing vacation across Northern Italy (staying at stellar Rick-recommended hotels in Milan and Verona) and made me anxious to go home. The only good thing about this place was the location - as a female solo traveler, I felt safe coming and going at night; it also has great proximity to San Marco Square and the Alilaguna vaporetto to the airport. Gabriele was warm and helpful, but the terribly rude white haired man at night was positively awful to me when I tried to buzz in one evening; he glared at me until I confirmed I was a guest there. I am not a fan of having to leave my key at the desk when leaving the hotel, especially with a locked entrance and that kind of greeting when returning at night. Breakfast and coffee machine coffee were abysmal. I would never stay here again, and recommend you try somewhere else unless you have very low expectations and standards (for cleanliness, comfort, good breakfast and coffee) and only value a good location, an elevator, and a safe in the room.…
Hotel Fontana is excellent. Not enough electrical outlets but the room was large, clean, with good air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Breakfast includes ham, cheese, yogurt, boiled eggs, juices. A lovely patio to eat at. The guy at the desk was really helpful, even calling my next hotel about Covid testing. Great location, relatively quiet but still close to San Marco square and lots of restaurants. Would stay here again
If you want to feel home, get help if you need ekstra pillow, cheapest way to come around , help if you get sick, nothing is too small , nothing is to big everything is POSSIBLE !! The rooms are more than clean, and cleaned every day , with soft big towels , and soft toilet paper. There are double or twin beds And in the room a mosquito catcher electronic , and a very good air conditioner , super wifi, and a big television for a room of 14 sqm . The room are decorated so you have the space you need ,and feel like bigger size than 14 sqm.( which also is difficult to find for that price in Venice !) You can choose room to the lovely small square Campo san povolo,or to the lovely garden and the church . Remember it’s and old house with all its charm, and have a history! Hotel has a lift , and there is just 3 minutes walk to vaparetto to whole city and Murano and other islands, and to allilaguna to airport. If you want to walk around wich is the easiest, Fontana ARE the BEST place ! Only 4 minutes to San Marks Square , and 10 minutes at Rialto Bridge . And just in front of hotel , restaurants, shops and musicians and painters in the street You can get a nice and we’ll done breakfast in hotel ( which is expensive in town ) , and there is a nice little bar ( not noisy ) where you can get a drink, after enjoying Venice ! We loved it , and hope to be back soon ❤️…
The Fontana hotel is a small one situated 2 minutes from St Marco. The hotel is run by a family so the atmosphere is great and make you feel you arrive to be a guest in a house where the family members take care of you, and ty to help in everything. We really like the design that is old fashion but done perfectly, which let you feel like at older times. It is very clean and breakfast was simple but fair. The terace with view to an inner mediteranean garden is great and quiet, especially good to sit early in the morning when the sun is not too hot and when it doesn't rain.
Great hotel location. Rooms a bit run down but were very clean. Staff very friendly. Buffet breakfast was simple. Hotel has a lift which was a good size to fit people and luggage in. Would stay here again.
We stayed here 1 night and it was PERECT! The location was ideal. They kept our bags while we toured until our room was ready. The front desk was warm, welcoming & quite helpful! The breakfast was delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
