This hotel may be classed as a three star hotel but we found it to be up there with the best based on the personal service we received. The staff are so friendly and the rooms and bathrooms are clean and tidy with fresh towels provided every day. Continental breakfasts are simple, fresh and tasty. It is Situated in a...

We stayed for 5 nights over Easter. Lovely small hotel set with a very private little courtyard where we had breakfast most mornings. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean. Our room was simple but very clean and just ideal. The location of the hotel was perfect, very central. We would certainly go there again if...

We stayed here for 3 nights, it's a great central location, 5 minute walk from the nearest Alilaguna station at St Marks. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The Breakfast choice is good and the bedroom clean with a comfy bed. We stayed in room 40, which has a view of the canal, so we could watch the gondolas go...

On arrival everything seemed fine. The hotel, as other reviewers note is very well situated. That unfortunately is where the positivity ends! The walls of the room were covered in squashed mosquitos. The only plug available in the room had an insect repellent plug in it so we had to decide between a charged phone or mosquitos. The shower was...

This hotel made our trip to Venice. A very traditional Venetian hotel. It's quite small(ish) run by fantastic staff. It is only a couple of minutes from the nearest Vaporetto (Water Bus) ,and a very short walk to St Marks Square. It is so well kept and presented , the rooms may not be large but they have everything you will...

Literally 5 minutes walk to St Mark's Square. So if like us the hotel is to sleep in and have breakfast then this hotel is just fine. Yes it's a little dated, yes the breakfast is average but it's quite adequate. We were made welcome and our room was clean & quite spacious. Recommended unless you're after 4 or 5...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
