The hotel is in an old building overlooking the Grand Canal, but only accessible from the pedestrian street. Great location. It's a short distance from the very touristy area of St Mark's Square (15 minute walk away), but very close to Ca d'Oro water bus stop, and only a few minutes from Rialto Bridge. We didn't manage to get one...

This place is on the Grand Canal and very close to the Rialto bridge. Our room didn't have a view of the canal but you can go to the common area and hang out on the balcony to see everything on the canal. Our room was clean and the staff were great. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices...

Tucked away off a main Strada this is a gem of a hotel - entering through a magnificent 'hidden' entrance you ascend to a wonderful hotel set right on the Grand Canal. The welcome is warm, the rooms are authentic in such a great way - antique furniture and not a flash of 'modern' anywhere, clean, cool and comfortable. We...

We stayed on in Venice two more days after our tour was over, and wanted a less expensive room. However this hotel has everything! It is an amazing value, very well decorated, and the staff are really nice and helpful. Also they cook eggs the way you want in the breakfast room. There is a comfortable lounge area in the...

Hotel location easy 5 mins walk to Rialto bridge and 10-15mins to...

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel and it was a very pleasant experience. Our room did not have a window overlooking the canal but the lounge area did and we were in awe watching all the deliveries being Made in the morning . In the afternoon we would watch the gondolas and the beautiful teakwood boats...

This was a dream: 3 windows to look out on the boats on the Canal! 3rd floor of a palazzo(yes, there's an elevator); receptionist wonderful; easy walk or vaporetto ride from train station. Just off the Main Street in Canneregio but quiet as can be inside the locando. I've been to Venice several times--this is the best sestier of the...

Visited as two couples and chose the family suite. Spent three nights and it was an excellent choice. Rooms very clean, comfortable and quiet. Staff very pleasant, spoke good English. Breakfast plentiful. View of the grand canal from the lounge balcony really good. Location suited us very well as it is centrally situated in the city, making everywhere easily accessible.

We choose this hotel by the reviews but we were disappointed in it. There was a language bearer with the concierge - not able to understand English. She was unable to make recommendations on site-seeing and restaurants. The view of the river is only from the lounge and not hotel rooms.

So centrally located and right on the Grand Canal! The staff was welcoming and very accommodating. We checked-in late in the afternoon only to find that our requested two twin beds were placed together as a full size bed. The gentleman (never got his name) was so sweet to help us pull the beds apart and remake the bed for...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
