I stayed here over Valentine's Day with my other half. We got a really cheap deal for 3 nights and I think it was excellent value for money! We stayed in the annex building which is less than 1 minute from the main hotel, I choose this room because they were more modern. The room was fantastic, very clean. It...

Based on the room alone, I would rate this hotel as a good 4 star. Our room was certainly better than the 3 star rating would suggest. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and booked the family room with canal view as we like a larger room so we have plenty of space. The room was very...

Stayed here for four nights this week . Ideal location literally just off the waterbus at San Zacharria . The hotel is virtually next to the Doges Palace and StMarks Basillica . We stayed in the annexe the rooms are compact not much storage I lived out of my suitcase which was fine . The tea and coffee is complimentary...

Stayed here for five nights at the end of January. The location is perfect, close to St Mark's Square, the Doges' Palace - and just a few steps from a vaporetto station. Our room looked out over the lagoon and even though the hotel was right on the waterfront, the room was not noisy. It was also very clean and...

Stayed there for 6 nights, room was near enough perfect, great location close to San Marco, well maintained, very clean, warm with an excellent ensuite. The only negatives I had were the breakfast after 6 days of the same thing it just got to hard to take !!!! and the other was the lack of tea/coffee facilities in the room

Hotel is in a great location (waterfront, across walkway from a few waterbus stops and right next to San Marco Square) and friendly service. Public waterbus from airport stopped right in front of hotel (San Marco Zaccaria stop). From airport, the waterbus ride was about 1 hour 30 minutes but starting point is right next to the airport (very convenient)...

Having read all the reviews i am surprised as anyone to write this but i can guarantee this is 100% true. This hotel nearly ruined our trip. In fact i will start with the good points. Location.... that is 1/5 on the review alone. Fantastic central location. Although knowing as i do now, Venice is very easy to walk around....

We, a married couple, stayed at the Paganelli for 4 days in January 2017. The location is exceptional, being only a couple of minutes' walk from St. Mark's Square, and facing the Grand Canal with a superb view of San Giorgio. We stayed in Room 219, which had a great view, and has been modernised beautifully. The hotel is handy...

The Hotel Paganelli is situated on the waterfront overlooking St Mark's Basin, easily accessed by water taxi from the airport after a long haul flight. It was the ideal location for our family holiday in Venice with well appointed comfortable rooms and staff with a very positive service attitude without being intrusive. A substantial continental breakfast was included in the...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
