we stayed here a couple of years ago on recommendation from a friend. i recall it being a lot better value than most of the other places on the grand canal, and i'd definately recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet hotel with a good location. inside i'd describe it as a little rustic, which was fine by us....

This was my fourth time in Italy and third in Venice, but first at the Galleria. The hotel is located diectly across the street from the Accademia; a location perfect for exploring all of Venice. If arriving by air, the Alilaguna stops at Zattere which is maybe a 2 minute walk across the Dorsoduro to the hotel's front door. Arriving...

We stayed here purely and simply because of the existing reviews and were delighted with every aspect. Lcoation, value, the room, the view, breakfast. Yes it is a little noisy but charming to see the kids going to school and the people in general enjoying the views from the Accademia Bridge. For such a brilliant location, a little noise is...

Each morning and evening we were able to see life unfold on the canal from our hotel window. We stayed in both room 10 and 8. Many of our best photos were taken from the room. The fireboat, mail boat, delivery barges, gondolas, rescue boat, water taxis, vaporettos, and other small boats passed by on their way to work. The...

Stayed in room 10. Very roomy, nice view of the canal and very convenient to the water taxi or walking to most of the attractions. I enjoyed breakfast in the room and they delivered right at your requested time. The front desk was very helpful with any questions we had.

We exchanged the usual emails. Us: What do you have available? Galleria: We have such and such. Send credit card information. Us: That will be fine, here's our credit card info. Galleria: Thank you. We did this many months prior to our trip. I presented the emails, but they claimed there was no reservation, as we did not have a...

Dear guest we absolutely don't agree with your review. You made a request, we made an offer as we always do and that was it. Then you showed up at the hotel claiming that you had a reservation, we couldn't find it and asked if you were able to show a confirmation mail from us but you weren't. If you...

We stayed in Room 1 which was advertised at having a view of the Accademia Bridge and Canal. It has a great view of the bridge but to say it has a view of the canal would be a pretty big stretch. There is a pizzeria below (which is pretty good) but between the people traffic on the bridge and...

We were only in Venice for a few days and stayed at Hotel Galleria (room #5). The room was huge compared to most Italian accomodations. While it didn't have a private bathroom, it did have two windows. One opened toward the Accademia Bridge and the other straight onto the Grand Canal. For 135 Euro/night, we had breakfast delivered to our...

This little hotel is situated just yards from the water taxi stop in Accademia so it is very easy to get to. That's the good news. The bad news is it sits right on the street where school kids taverse back and forth so if you want peace and quiet in the morning, try another place. A typical continenial breakfast...

This is a terrific little hotel in the wonderful Dorsoduro district of Venice. The location is unbeatable- literally right next to the Accademia Gallery with it's beautiful collection of Venetian art, and the Accademia Bridge with one of those best views along the Grand Canal. My wife and I stayed in room #10, with a double bed and two windows...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
